Open Your Eyes and See, What We Have Made is Real

NoRegrets is getting quite a reputation amongst those who participate in the Saturday Scavenger Hunt :-) If you ever read through the list of words, cataloged for us by AlienCG, you will note the words next to her name tend to be quite interesting and challenging! This week's word is a great addition to her list...XANADU. Ideally, that word would make you think of Kubla Khan by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. And then maybe you'd think of the monumental song by Rush, based heavily upon that poem. And it did make me think of that, almost immediately...but most immediately Olivia Newton John and ELO started playing in my head. There was roller skating involved and I had to believe we were magic. It was a beautiful moment...*sigh*

Okay. So, once I arose from that little fugue state, I tried to think of an idyllic, exotic, or luxurious place that I would have pictures of...and since I don't travel much (read: at all) I thought I'd have to get a bit non-traditional with my choice. Upon reflection though, I realized that something has recently come into my life. A space that does feel, if not quite exotic, slightly luxurious, and sometimes exceptionally idyllic. I present to you...

My own bed, in my own room. My XANADU. Enough of a stately pleasure-dome for laura b., for now. And all should cry, Beware! Beware!

Thank you for lounging around here with me in my XANADU. Are we supposed to tip the fanners / grape peelers? haha! I am greatly looking forward to seeing all of your visions of XANADU. The neon lights will shine, I'm sure :-) Make sure to check in with NoRegrets to find out who will be tagged for next week!

I am so happy for you! Your own bed in your own room!

That would be Xanadu, if you had sacrificed having such for your children.

You deserve your Xanadu, my friend!

Comfy bed. It looks perfect! It screams serenity and I'm so pleased you have a perfect special comfy space for your quiet moments and sleepiness! ;o)

Perfect choice. Having a place truly your own to spend time is definitely XANADU. At least that's how I see it.

A bed is a magical place where you find your dreams! Like Xanadu!!!

I don't have a bed yet... but I hope I get one soon.

Crazy4Coens: Off and on since I've had kids, I have not had my own space. So having it now...yes, it does feel like XANADU. Thanks :-)

Daffy: That is the nice thing about privacy. You can have serenity or whatever else you might like!

AlienCG: I see it that way too...thanks Alien.

Ananda: You have the room...next the bed. You are well on your way to XANADU :-)

Good feng shui going there! You deserve the peace and quiet of a wonderful room of your own.

Sebastien: Oh, you're joshing me...I know my space is not all decoratively pleasing. But it is personally pleasing. Thanks, Sebastien :-)

When I saw the word "Xanadu", I got the tune from "Waterloo" stuck in my head, but instead of singing "Waterloo", I replaced it with Xanadu.

Having your own sanctuary to go to is a perfect example of xanadu.

Nice space. If only I could find the fanners and grape peelers. I'd use their services and then tip them.

Tara: Wow, that totally works! ~How can I ever refuse? I feel like I win when I lose...XANADU!~ Yes, I know my ABBA.
And thanks, Tara, it does feel idyllic at times :-)

Churlita: Thank you. The fanners and grape peelers are shy folks. They work hard though, so yes, do tip generously.
