A Timeless Activity

I'll be brief today. Aw, so sad, I know ;-P Summer Reading Program is kicking into gear here. Many, many patrons and also many teen volunteers to wrangle. It is good fun, but all very time consuming. I am excited that my storytimes are starting back up again tonight and tomorrow morning. Those storytimes are one of my very favorite parts of my job.

Anyway...so in lieu of anything more fascinating to recount for you reading pleasure, here is a picture for you. Girlie Girl and I had Miss Personality over for the night on Sunday. She was so happy to come for a sleepover, although she is very restless at night without her own bed. She was a very good girl though, and as a reward her auntie gave her a salon style manicure, complete with warm towels for her hands and lots of lotion, along with the lovely nail polishing.

Some people find a manicure relaxing. I do not. Personally, I could go for a good massage. I've never had one professionally...and um, not even really one personally...like a really good one. So, I guess it is only a theory of mine...that is what I would find really relaxing. Since that may not ever happen, my second choice is curling up with a good book and something caffeinated (which I know is not supposed to relax you, but whatever!) What relaxes you? Maybe you've all got something I could try as these next six weeks shriek by :-)

i totally recommend getting a good massage. I've never had a manicure or a pedicure, but a massage is wonderful.

Pedicure! When I was pregnant with my third, I was confined to bed except for one treat a week... a trip to get a pedicure. It is so amazing to have your feet massaged, trimmed, scoured, wax dipped, lotioned and polished. They feel great all week long afterward. Its a little bit of heaven.

I've never had a good massage either, but I have given a few in my lifetime. What a cute picture.

Churlita: I am quite compelled to treat myself to a massage. I'm clearly not going to get it for free. haha!

Ananda: Ah, that does sound nice. I can't imagine being confined to bed...that must have been tough with two others! But I think that pedicure sounds wonderful...

AlienCG: How much would you charge? haha! Thank you...I like the way they are both concentrating.

Lie flat on you back on the floor... put Mark Knopfler on full blast. Or Early Genesis, with Peter Gabriel, that works too, or the Who Soundtrack of Tommy.
Look at those girls together! How sweet, and what a lovely memory to tuck away in your memory box.

I have never had a good, professional massage either and I think that might do the trick. I've had a manicure before too and that felt pretty good.

I love the fact that Miss Personality was treated to a manicure, she looks so adult in that photo!

Relaxing - hmm...Well Ksra gave me her memory foam mattress cover awhile back that was like new and climbing into bed with that mattress is like Heaven.

I couldn't do a massage. I am too ticklish and if they did it any harder, it hurts me. Oh well. Jess LOVES massages!

Daffy: Hmmm..musical therapy. I do like the sound of that. And, I can afford it!
Auntie and niece are very cute together. I love thinking of how close they'll be as Miss Personality grows up.

Tara: I am really seriously considering just going for that massage.
Two ladies doing their thing :-)
And I have heard of these memory foam things. Sounds deeeelightful...

MrManuel: Ticklish! Aw! Well then...what does relax you? Or shouldn't I ask?

I bet they will be close. My daughter is 13 and her cousin is 22 and they are inseperable sometimes. Andrea is going paintballing for her birthday and her cousin is guest of honour. You are never to old to shoot paint at people and run through the fields! hehe
(I hope she leaves the strappy sandals at home! )

How adorable :)

I love being fully caffeinated and drawing or reading. Also, I loved playing basketball, that relaxed me. And, swimming endless laps in a large pool, that is very very peaceful.

Daffy: Oh paintballing. One of my sons was into that for awhile. Another timeless activity :-) Probably best done without the strappy sandals.

Sebastien: They are, aren't they? I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds being caffeinated strangely soothing. I am not very good at basketball...but swimming! Oooh, nice choice for relaxation. I can get behind that one.
