Living in Oblivion

Today's Choose and Defend Wednesday post is named after a five disc set of 80s music that I have and love. Again, thought I'd join AlienCG in his week long mission to celebrate all things 80s. So...cast your mind back. Think of the music you heard in the 80s. If you are younger, you'll still be familiar with 80s music. Nostalgia looms large, especially around this decade's musical contributions. And you know the game! Choose. Easy enough. Then, Defend your choice so that the rest of us can understand what you could have possibly been thinking! I give you today's choices... 80s music had a few prominent genres. Here are two of the biggies. Do you prefer:

New Wave

Hair Metal

What's your 80s pleasure? Oh my gawd! Like, Choose and Defend!

First of all, I resent the fact that Iron Maiden appears with Accept and Warrant on this guy's back.

Hmmm, this is a tough choice, I do have favorites under both genres. I am going to go with New Wave. I think there was more talent behind this grouping. This is not to say I don't like hair metal. So, my choice, New Wave.

Very tough choice! Yikes. And wow... what a way to advertise! Where do you get a "Bill" board like that!

Okay, enough jokes. I have to go New Wave because I punk, punk, punk. Oi!
And you know... "If the kids are united, they will never be divided!"

New Wave although I didn't really like 80's music all that much - I was too busy raising chillin's to listen. New Wave over Hair Bands because another name for Hair Bands is Poodle Bands. New Wave, that's my final answer.

I love real metal, so most of the hair bands annoyed me. There were only a few I liked. I'm going with New Wave. it was so big when I was in high school and college, so it's my nostalgia music.

New Wave. I've only recently gotten into some metal...

OMG, hands down new wave. I love Devo, Blondie, Talking Heads... some of my favorite music is new wave. Metal is a bit too aggressive for my tastes.

Hair metal simply because it rules.

AlienCG: Well clearly this fellow had some issues :-) And this was a tough one for you a little...but you made a choice. Yay! One for New Wave.

Ananada: Another one willing to make the tough choices when necessary! Why am I not surprised to see you're a punk girl? hee hee! If we stand together it will just be the start! Yeah... Okay, two for New Wave.

Crazy4Coens: I found when my kids were little a good music listening time...I still had control of the dial! Oh my goodness...Poodle Bands! haha! Ah, three for New Wave, final answer :-)

Churlita: It is funny how much more Hair Metal appeals to me now, just for the nostalgia factor...but in the day, yeah...And you make four for New Wave!

NoRegrets: So, you are discovering metal! But it is we will put you down as five for New Wave.

Sebastien: Some felt torn...not you! New Wave is fun! You were a little guy during the 80s, but you have good taste in music. Six for New Wave.

MrManuel: Oh, I'm so glad you showed up here to slow down this runaway train! Simple and to the point. One for Hair Metal. Finally!

Everyone: At this point New Wave is beating Hair Metal like a red headed stepchild. But it's not too late to vote. Put the beat down on Hair Metal and vote New Wave...or fight the power and show us your Hair Metal love!

New Wave all the way! I recognize most of those bands in that top photo and already have "Stray Cat Strut" running through my head.

Tara: New Wave thanks you! I think as being Seven for New Wave you have put the nail in Hair Metal's coffin :-)
