-The kickass red door.
-If anything goes wrong, I don't have to fix it.
-The pool.
-The lizards that live in the bushes out front.
-Feeling safe and happy there.

Books You Might Want to Read

-Round Rock - Michelle Huneven
-Jamesland - Michelle Huneven
-The Music Teacher - Barbara Hall
-Last Standing Woman - Winona LaDuke

Fun Songs to Hear on a Friday While Driving to Work

-Poison by Bell Biv Devoe
-O.P.P. by Naughty By Nature
-Fantastic Voyage - Coolio
-Shoop - Salt n Pepa

Things You Don't Want to Deal With at Work

-The disgruntled co-worker situation. Dude, you didn't get the job. Get over it or move on, because you are stressing the rest of the department right the fuck out.

Things I Now Know About Monorails

-We could run them along our flood control channels.
-They can be built and operated at about one third to one half of the cost of light rails.
-For some reason the people in charge of mass transit in this country cannot be persuaded to take them seriously or even consider them casually.
-They would look cool and futuristic. I'd ride them!
-People who are interested in monorails can talk for a really, really, really long time about why they are interested.

After a Really Long Day, It is Nice to Come Home to...

-A package mailed just to you, with fun stuff inside and an awesome note. Long live snail mail.

I bet you have lots of thises and thats built up by the end of the week too. I'd love to hear about some of them...or all of them, even!

I am all about rail systems!!! big fan of the one they built here in Phx, although I haven't gotten a chance to ride it yet.

Airlines and auto industry have made sure to keep us from having efficient new rail systems in the past 30 years, specially high speed rail, which they made sure to crush in Texas and quite a few other places...

-I like my house-in-a-box (mobile home)because I own it outright and hopefully no one can take it away.

-Because I pay just under $300.00 space rent which allows me to survive on my wages.

-I don't want to deal with the war over hours at work right now. One of us is going to lose some. I have seniority but... squeaky wheels get oil and I am not very squeaky.

- I know that Disneyland has a monorail and I had fun riding it many times growing up.

-I like to sing "Atrocity" by The Vandals, "Nellie the Elephant" by the Toy Dolls, and "Fuck You I'm Drunk" by Flogging Molly.

After a really long day, it's nice to come home to a childless, quiet house for a bit.

Sebastien: To hear these guys tell it monorails are the most cost effective, sustainable form of mass transit, but they just get shut down at every turn. It was pretty educational.

Ananda: I lived in a mobile home in Las Vegas for a couple of years when my two oldest boys were tiny. I liked it!
I love to sing, too...almost anything. But I have to be alone because I sound awful. Thanks for sharing your thises and thats!!!

They thinking about doing monorails in the "L.A. river?" That would be cool.

Poison by BBD is ALWAYS fun to listen to any time of the day.

A few of those things change when you're a homeowner. I don't have a red door, a pool or lizards in the bushes.

I haven't read any of those books.

OPP and Fantastic Voyage are fun songs, but I'm not a fan of the other two.

I don't work, so I don't deal with disgruntled people.

I want to ride a monorail.

Getting packages are fun.

MrManuel: If these proponents ever get their way, there will be monorails running the flood channels, but it seems they're fighting an uphill battle. I'd love it though.
Those were all dancing in the seat of my car songs :-)

AlienCG: I might be willing to give those things up if I ever became a wealthy landowner. haha!
You read other books, so that's okay. And you listen to lots of music, so that's okay too :-)
The big upside to not working, I suppose... but if we get a monorail here, try and have a job so you can travel here just to ride it! And yes, getting packages rocks.

I would love to get a fun package in the mail.

My apartment is just fine. I love the location. But I would love to own my own little house some day.

Oo, that looks like a great meme! I still have to list the things I like about my apartment. And there are lots o'things!

Chulita: I used to make jokes about only getting bills in the mail...but I don't even get those anymore! A package is extra nice.

I'm kind of resigned to the fact that I'll probably never have a house again, so I try to appreciate what I can about apartment living.

Tara: Your apartment does seem really nice. You have an actual staff around to take care of things....and geese!
