The Sun...Even More Beautiful

Hi Wednesday and all who accompany it!  Time for some old timey Choose and Defend Wednesday up in here.  Today I thought I ask you about something a little different.  No food!  Instead, please tell me who your favorite 80's movie teen is...

Ferris Bueller
OR

Marty McFly

Now, I know there are many other 80s teens out there.  But surely these are two of the most recognizable.  And they are also pretty different types of characters - both male, of course...maybe if you'd like we can do girls another time!  Well, not do girls...but you know...

So now, please Choose your favorite and go on to Defend your choice.  It's what we do here.  Thx.  :-D

Hmmm. I guess I'm going to have to go with McFly. I'm not sure why really - I can't say either of these were favorite characters of mine.

(Sorry, BTW, that I was able to choose but not defend - I'm not always the best game-player.)

Well, I am going to answer based on the movies.

McFly for sure. Those are three of the best movies ever made.

I admit I've never seen Ferris Bueller in its entirety. I've seen it in 20 minute stretches on TBS over the years, and these were ok, but I've never felt compelled to actually see the entire movie in one sitting in correct order.

And would Ferris Beuller have ever given us anything as funny as this?

And if you are really going to get into the characters, thanks to his time-traveling DeLorean, Marty McFly can have relive the same day off as many times as he wants.

Crap....why do you make me choose?

Well, Ferris is a better character because Marty is kind of whiny and a little bit of a punk. But the trilogy of BTTF is overall better than Day Off, which in itself, is an awesome movie. Hard...

Oh man, this is a tough choice. Hmmm!

I think I'll choose Calvin...er...Marty McFly/Michael J. Fox. I didn't really have a crush on him, but he was cute and funny in "Back to the Future" and I loved him when he was in "Family Ties".

Secret: Aw, that's okay! I appreciate that you play! Who is your favorite 80s teen then? But for now...One for Marty McFly.

Dmarks: LOVE the Defense! You make a great case for Back to the Future and...Two for Marty McFly.

MrManuel: See, I have to keep you thinking about the important issues in life! And I think you are...One for Ferris Bueller.

Tara: Okay, that works! Not crushy, but cute :-) Three for Marty McFly.

Everyone: I admit to a little surprise to see Marty edging out Ferris here. Awesome to get surprised on C&D :-) So far, 3-1 Team Marty.

Everyone else: Please play! It's fun. Ferris or Marty?

Ferris! Because he had fun. Lots of fun. McFly was always stressed out. Don't need that!

NoRegrets: Excellent point! No one anywhere is more relaxed than Ferris Bueller :-) Two for Ferris Bueller.

Marty's also kind of a freeloader. Remember when he wanted a Pepsi, free?

Bwahahaha! Yes, dmarks :-)

I'm not sure - that' snot really my genre I did like Broderick better in "War Games." I also really liked "Breakfast Club" and "St. Elmo's Fire" at the time they came out.

Secret: All good movies!

I'd say Spicoli, but he wasn't one of the choices...So, Ferris. Mostly because it's one of Stinky's favorite comfort movies.

Churlita: haha! In spite of his fine resume, I think Spicoli might still be my favorite Sean Penn role :-)
You make 3 for Ferris...and we seem to have inched our way into a tie!!!
