I Want You to Notice What You've Been Missing

Saturday! Scavenger! Hunt! And boy, was this one a doooozy. Choosen by the most imaginatively whimsical blogger around, Ananda Girl over at Oodles of Funch, the word is...OBSESSION. Ooooohhhhh!

My OBSESSIONs are legion. It was hard to narrow them down to a few representative things that are an OBSESSION with me, but here we go...

As you know, I am have an OBSESSION with clever kid lit. This is from The Three Little Gators by Helen Ketteman, illustrated by Will Terry. It is an East Texas version of the Three Little Pigs. This page reads:
"Then I'll wiggle my rump with a bump, bump, bump and smash your house!" Big-bottomed Boar wiggled his bottom and bumped it against the third gator's house. Sand flew everywhere.
Awesome.

I'd say I have a little Netflix OBSESSION going on, especially as I make my way through the five seasons of Six Feet Under. I can turn those pups around pretty quickly.

Here are two OBSESSIONs in one. My beloved 7-Eleven iced coffee (thanks for the beautiful marriage ceremony the other day, Tara) and Nurse Jackie. I have other snack food and television OBSESSIONs as well. But I can't in good conscience expose you to all of that.

I have a pretty serious bear OBSESSION. Here are some that live with me. People give them to me for some reason.

Another example of my bear OBSESSION. One of my favorite shirts..Be(ar) Aware!

As a mom, of course I have an OBSESSION with my children. Most of them are beyond the age when it is really safe to OBSESS. But look at little Handsome Lad...still OBSESSION worthy :-)

I have now moved the OBSESSION largely to my grandbabies. Here is the beautiful and lively Miss Personality getting ready to leap into the deep, deep blue....

Here are more grandbabies to OBSESS over...Love Bug and Little Prince looking somewhat stunned with heat and the loving care of their Auntie Girlie Girl, who took care of them all one night and all the next day all on her own.

Of course, you could say that this blog...and reading all of yours is another big OBSESSION of mine. Thanks so much for joining me in this harmless little OBSESSION...can't wait to see yours! Don't forget to check with Ananda Girl to see who she tags for next week. May the OBSESSION continue!

Ooooh I love your list! I too have a legion of obsessions... and share everyone of these except for Nurse Jackie, but only because I can't get it I'm sure. ha

Now I must own The Three Little Gators. I bet you like "The True Story of The Three Little Pigs" too!

Seeing photos of your family always makes me smile and feel good. Thanks for sharing them!

Great post. Oh BTW... Tag, you're it! hahahahaha I love saying that.

I figured quite a few people would be going for the mega-picture-post. I love me some Netflix, too. Especially watching the movies down in the basement.

Where you are obsessed with bears, I am with aliens. Yours is probably more cuddly.

I prefer hot coffee, black with sugar. But the caffeine is the same.

Good pictures, now pick a word.

Yes! What is the word?

I wrote The Three Little Gators down in my journal - I am going to check the AR reading level - one of my passions is providing good reading for my special ed kids (who read between 2.0 and 3.5 AR level). I had no idea they would actually like reading until a room full of 6th graders were riveted to Because of Winn Dixie. Anyway less me - more you -

Great post! Loved it! And what is the word? (I didn't do well with the less me part, did I?)

It's so cool to see the little kids grow up through your photos.
Very nice kids book... I'll have to look it up.
And I think the only way I'd join netflix is to catch up on shows... I will do that someday.

Netflix is awesome, I love that I can keep their movies forever without a charge.

OMG! love that be(ar) shirt, didn't realize you had one, that is soooo fun!

And all those stuffed bears, that made me smile. I think I also have a bear obsession.

Right now, the past couple months, I've had an italian soda obsession.

Ananda: I think if you had Showtime you would totally love Nurse Jackie :-)
haha! Yes, I DO like The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. Jon Sciezscka (sp?) is another good, weird children's author.
Thanks for tagging me! I love getting to chose!!!

AlienCG: As it turns out, we all have plenty of obsessions :-)
Sometimes bears are cuddly, sometimes they use their claws and jaws. It is exciting to be around them, because you never know what kind of mood they might be in.
Caffeine is our dark mistress...

Crazy4Coens: I appreciated it when my kids had teachers who continued to read aloud to the class even when they were in fifth grade. Not everyone enjoys reading, but most people enjoy hearing a story. And please...more you! There is plenty of me here :-)

Pamela: Thank you. Sometimes I can't believe how quickly the kids grow and having pictures is a nice way to remember each little stage.
I haven't had Netflix too long and so far catching up on series has been mostly what I've used it for :-)

Tara: I know, it is so much less pressure that way. I hate feeling like I HAVE to watch something and get it back right away.

Sebastien: Thanks, as a bear of course I like other ones. There is something oddly human about them...but with kickass teeth and claws.
Italian soda? I'm in!

Jessie... thats what they call me said...

Great list! cute kids!
i haven't read the story though....

That's a great list of obsessions. I'm right there with you on most of them...Except coffee. I don't drink it.

It's true, having huge claws and fangs is pretty great. Kangeroos also have razor sharp claws, but are lacking in the ferocious teeth department. Thus I prefer bears.

Jessie: Thanks! And if you like big-bottomed boars and gators, then you should definitely read this story :-)

Churlita: I could have included tea too...I am a fan!

Sebastien: Kangaroos are world renowned boxers, so that is pretty cool. But a bear can eat even a world renowned boxer...so yeah, bears!!!
