Yeah, I Can Hit High C. Just Grab This...

Welcome to Choose and Defend Wednesday here at My Boring Life. Always a pleasure. For me at least...I won't speak for you :-) Today, I thought we'd talk about an artform that tends to be much maligned. Come on, let's talk about opera. Wait! Come back! This will be painless, I promise. All you have to do is Choose. Then, all you have to do is Defend. You can do that. I've seen you! Okay, so...you are obliged to go to an opera, but you do have some say in the matter. What will it be?

Classic Opera

OR

Rock Opera
Since you have to go to one or the other, I am sure you can make a fine case for one... or the other. Choose and Defend. Because it is Wednesday.

Oh, and by the way, please note that AlienCG has assigned us the word END for this week's Saturday Scavenger Hunt. Hmmmm. Ominous, no?

Well I have only had the opportunity to experience rock opera during college and that was pretty cool since I knew the songs from choir. I'll choose rock opera.

I'm going to go with rock opera too. My mom was really into opera, but I just never liked it much.

Rock Opera! Tommy is my fave! Tina Turner sneaking up as the Acid Queen and Wicked Uncle Ernie doing his Phil Collins impression! hehe Definitely Rock Opera for me. Nice and easy today. No sitting on the fence. (Not with my large behind anyway!)

I've never seen a rock opera, so I pass on deciding...

Tara: It is always fun to see performances when you're familiar with the songs. Rock on!

Churlita: It seems to be one of those acquired tastes. Rock Lobster!

Daffy: Tommy is definitely the first thing that comes to my mind too, when I think of Rock Opera :-)
Rock it, rock it!

NoRegrets: Have you seen a conventional opera? I'd say just give it a guess, but I can respect a pass too.

Everyone: I admit, I had my suspicions about this one. But, I could still discover some closet opera fans....so don't be shy. Speak right up!

I think rock opera is one of the highest forms of musical expression :)

I am not sure where the concept of rock opera ends and concept album begins, but I love "Tommy", "The Wall", and "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway".

Dmarks: Those are all great albums and I think they qualify as rock opera.
Looks to me like Rock Opera has swept this category.
