Ah, My Lovely Long Weekend

What a nice one it was. As you have all been made well aware, Saturday, as well as being everyone's least favorite Hallmark holiday, is also my birthday. It was great to have it fall on a weekend...and a long one at that!

When I got up Saturday morning, I saw that Girlie Girl had laid out some gifts for me. There was one from her, one from Secret Agent Man, Social Animal, & Handsome Lad, and even one from WTG. There was also a cute, teeny chocolate cake :-) So, I had a sweet little pile of stash to go through! Nice. Then Kick Back Dude called to ask if we wanted to drive up and visit the snow. I was kind of meh, but everyone was all into it, so I decided - why not? It was actually a very good day to go, because it wasn't raining, making it a much less stressful drive. We didn't have to go up too far...the snow is at about 4,000 feet right now. Here is what it looked like where we went:Pretty, right? Although probably not so exciting to those of you who live in the snow.
We don't have proper snow clothes, so we didn't stay and play in it for too long. We left the baby, Little Prince, with the other grandma...but the little girls LOVED it...until they felt too cold. Here is Miss Personality making a snow angel. Here is Love Bug all bundled up.After we came back down, we went out to the Golden Dragon for my birthday dinner. We went kind of early so that we wouldn't run into too many V-day diners. Boy, I love Chinese food.... Anyway, it was a really good day :-)

Sunday was quite peaceful. Girlie Girl was in and out during the day, and Handsome Lad hung out with me. He is once again growing a bit disenchanted with his father. I don't really touch that...I just enjoy the extra time with him.

Monday is the usual day that my mom comes and takes whoever is around out to lunch. On the Monday holidays I'm sure she regrets all the hangers-on that gather. haha! It was fun though...we just had Burger King, so that the little girls could play in the play area and the bigger folks could eat their junk in relative peace. The only one of my kids who wasn't there, because he was working, was Secret Agent Man. The kids do have fun when they all get together. Then last night, Girlie Girl and Handsome Lad watched Friday the 13th 3 in 3D. It was so dumb and even the 3D effects were pretty minimal and lame. They had picked it out because they wanted something scary and liked the idea of 3D. It was made in '82 though and really looked it...sort of a puffy clothes and hair thing going on. It was good for a laugh though. There were only two pairs of 3D glasses, and I didn't particularly want to watch it anyway, so I was sitting with them reading in this very dim light, glancing up occasionally at the weirdly red and green outlined screen. Ah, a fine evening.

I hope that you all had a good long weekend too. And please notice that Dmarks has kindly stepped right up and chosen the word ICE for this week! Woo hoo! That's gonna be a gooood one! *said in my Cable Guy voice* :-)

"Ice" eh? That's gonna be good.

I love that you were welcomed by presents in the morning for your birthday! Like Christmas only better!

Sometimes I wish I was still a kid so I could enjoy the snow as much as they do. How fun to make snow angels!

Your long weekend sounds just fab! I loved looking at the pics. For some reason I love to watch people enjoying the sun and kids look great all wrapped up!
My boy works at Burger King. *rolls eyes* At least he's working but it means I can't cook burgers and chips for his tea... it's like a busmans holiday! hehe Hope you are ok. xxx

I'm glad your birthday was so nice.

It would be so cool to drive to see the snow, and then leave it behind when I was done with it.

Tara: It did remind me of Christmas...but yeah, all for me! :-) They enjoyed the snow until they realized they were cold and wet. So it was a brief bit of magic, but well worth it.

Daffy: I'm glad you liked my shots. I wanted a snowman like your kids built but no one had the patience :-D
That's great that your son works at Burger King, but I bet he has gone off that food when he's off duty.

NoRegrets: Thanks! Yeah, it is Ice Cube, Ice-T, Vanilla Ice time. Or maybe not...

Churlita: Thank you, it really was. I really do think that for me, this is the ideal relationship with snow. We're just casual acquaintances...none of the mess of really getting to know one another.

FW: Was that you up there earlier? Come back! :-)
