This Won't Improve Your Perception of Me

There is no way this little rant is going to do anything positive for my image...but what the hell? Do I even have an image? haha! Not so much, so maybe a small bitchfest won't be so bad. If nothing else it will help me feel better.

Okay, yesterday was our big family lunch for celebrating the January and February birthdays. As usual, my dad and stepmom had taken us out to eat and we were all just enjoying a nice visit. Of course WTG wasn't there, as he hates my dad. Still, he managed to push himself right into the center of it. Let me tell you how. Let's see..okay, since getting her license Girlie Girl has been agitating for a car. Each of the boys got a car when they got their licenses. Nothing fancy, just a little something to get around in. So of course, WTG apparently races out while we are having our lunch to pick up this car he got a line on. Then, as we were sort of finishing up, but not finished, he send Girlie Girl a picture of this car and when she calls him he tells her it is right outside the restaurant. So, of course, half of the people in our group leave the table. They drifted back in in a bit, because he had driven the car over and was going to drive it back to his house for us to pick up later. Bear with me here, and please know that I know how awful I sound, but I was just thinking, "You have got to be kidding."

I am happy for Girlie Girl to have a car (although guess who will pay the insurance for it?) And I certainly couldn't go out and buy her a car, so what am I complaining about? I guess I am complaining about his constant desire to be the center of attention. He had to give her the car right then, so that everyone in the whole family would know that he had come through and his parade could be scheduled or whatever. He was in such a rush to make his presentation that he didn't even bother to go through it and make sure everything was working and that she could drive it. As it turns out, it needs a few things done before anyone in their right mind would put their daughter behind the wheel.

Girlie Girl was so excited, of course. It is a cute little 1995 BMW convertible. This isn't it, but it pretty much looks like that as far as I can tell. Just right for a teenage girl, if we're going by the looks of the thing alone. But I am like a bitter old shrew. I am noting the work that needs to be done, the fact that they guy before him only owned it for about six weeks, that it just had a part put on that cost $550 used and had no guarantee should there be further water damage to this particular part...wtf? I'm just getting all kinds of bad feelings. And I'm worried that maybe after this initial fixing up, which I believe WTG will do, I will be stuck with a four wheeled cash sucker. It is just a bad, bad feeling. So there is that, plus my resentment of his timing, which effectively ended that little gathering.

Anyway, that concludes my rant. Awful. But honestly... Geez.

I think it's pretty tasteless for him to do that. Of course, if something does go haywire because of his rush to show off, he's going to look the part of the fool.

WTG is quite the attention whore, isn't he? You absolutely have the right to have negative feelings about that whole thing. He's such a hot shot, he should pay for her insurance.

That's not a horrible rant at all. I see no swear words. And man, I wouldn't give a teenager something like that. That screams =- drive me fast. And that shouldn't be done by teenagers. Maybe you shoudl pay for a auto mechanic class for your daughter and say that that is all that you will cover.

AlienCG: Ah, yes, the part he plays so well.

Tara: He prefers the big gestures to the boring routine maintenance issues. Must be nice.

NoRegrets: Yeah, he did this with one of the boys too...gave him a Firebird. Luckily, the kids have more sense than him and haven't been reckless (that I'm aware of).

I should probably take an auto mechanic class myself. Hm.

I hate that kind of crap. It's all done for show and you know you'll be the one paying for it. That was hardly a rant. I might have to come over and teach a seminar.

Churlita: haha! I'd totally sign up for the Churlish Girl's Guide to a Righteous Rant :-)

That just might have to be the title of my autobiography.
