Kidney Stones?

Been a bit distracted the past couple of days. DR is ill and we're not sure what it is. He has pain in his lower back that isn't relieved by different positions, and it is accompanied by nausea.  He doesn't have a fever. Kind of seems like maybe a kidney stone. He's really just waiting it out, as he has no insurance right now. He says if it is that, it will pass... But it worries me.

Silver: It is notoriously hard for single people without dependants to get help. But he is feeling better today. Hoping it passed.

NoRegrets: Thank you. He is feeling better today. What a relief.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that he's been ill! I totally understand his hesitation to go to the doctor's without health insurance, but he should see someone for what he's experiencing.

I hope he feels better very soon!

I'm glad to hear he's feeling better, but it would make sense to look into whether your area has a free health clinic. Our health insurance situation in this country bites - don't even get me on the expensive-but-crappy policy that is the only one available to me.

Tara: Yes, it does seem like something not to just let go. I am researching some options. Thank you!

Secret: I have been fortunate enough to have insurance all of my life and even with that medical costs can be frightning.
But you're right; surely there is a free or low cost clinic. This certainly has me worried enough to hunt some option down.

That should have been "don't even get me started" - the subject makes me so crazy I can't even type. But even my tiny town has a free clinic. The services are limited, but it's better than nothing.

seriously get some health insurance. though, meh, maybe not. I spend over $7000 a year just to have a $5000 deductible. Yes, I get lower cost prescriptions, but it's ridiculous. but I need to have it, despite the fact that it helps me be poor.

Secret: There are free clinics. Around here, pretty icky, but nice to have when it becomes absolutely necessary.

NoRegrets: You're fortunate to be able to swing what could amount to up to $12,000 in a year. Hopefully at some point he'll have a job that will provide insurance.
