The Eclectic Calendar tells us that we are to start off the month with Be Your Best Self Day. I try everyday, I really do. Some days it is much harder than others to even make the effort. And sometimes, in spite of good efforts, I fail (but not EPIC FAIL, because I hear if I say that now I am a giant dork). I think when it comes down to it my best self is found here:

Were you your best self today? Did you even try? Wait, sorry! I meant...how are you doing? Week going okay? Tell me about it.

Aw, I like your collage of family photos!

I started off being my better self by getting a good night's sleep last night! Sure I still wanted to take a nap later in the day, but still! :)

I always do what I can to be my best self. I don't think it's something we can really fail at, we just don't live up to our goals. I finished a book today, which makes me feel good, I think that makes me a better person now.

I try, I try. I fail, I fail.

It'a a hard and fast "Murphy" rule that I follow. Part of what has made my life so much better lately.

Tara: Thanks! And I think a good night's sleep is a precursor to lots of good things :-)

AlienCG: Meeting a goal feels great. I'm sure it improved you...not that you need improvement :-)

Crazy4Coens: Oh surely not. You are an extraordinary person!

Ananda: Is it sort of hoping for the best and expecting the worse? Whatever you are doing, it is certainly working...

I always try really hard to be the best person I can be. I also try not to beat myself up for being human, because that constant self-criticism can foster my insecurities and those make me a worse person. It's all so tricky, isn't it? I guess it's an ongoing process that I'm always working on.

Churlita: I believe you're exactly right. It is an ongoing process. It isn't like it is some task that will reach completion. Keeps us on our toes.
