My Big Movie Weekend

Subtitle: Oh, You Lazy Slut. I did virtually nothing this weekend, but sit around watching movies. I won't do reviews, because I plainly suck at that. I like lots. It good. Me happy. But I will list and link them for you, in case you are looking for something non-action based to watch some time. Also, I don't think you are going to be blown away by anything here. It is probably stuff you already saw if you were at all interested. Still, witness for me, or maybe I didn't even HAVE a weekend!

Saturday

Brokeback Mountain. I had seen this, of course. My daughter hadn't, but had been wanting to. So we Netflixed it and finally got around to it. Watching gay cowboy sex with my 16 year old daughter was not even close to being the most awkward moment of my life. Probably doesn't even make the top ten. This is such a sad movie though, that is what stuck with us.

Garage. I just happened across this one while flipping around. It was just starting and I was initially watching because there were subtitles even though the actors were speaking English. They had strong Irish accents though, uh duh, so it was pretty helpful after all. Wow, this movie was so beautifully done. You could feel this man's pervasive loneliness...so painful. I would say I enjoyed it, but that wouldn't be quite right. I was very moved by it.

Sunday

Rachel Getting Married. Found this one at the Redbox. This was an unusually structured movie. I liked it very much. Anne Hathaway was so good as the self-centered, struggling addict who is out of rehab for the weekend to attend her sister's wedding. I love that the groom was played by the singer for TV on the Radio. There was lots of good music throughout the movie too.

You Kill Me. This was another one of my flipping around finds and I had actually seen it before at the theater. I liked it and it was good to see again. Ben Kingsley is oddly hot. Sorry. He just is.

Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist. This was another one of my Redbox finds. You never know what is going to be in there. Anyway, I'd been wanting to see this, but have never gotten around to it. It was a cute little teen movie...just right for my state of arrested development ;-)

And THAT was my entire weekend. It was so worth it.

I'm so jealous of your lazy slutishness. I want your weekend. I have only seen the Nick and Nora movie and Brokeback out of all of your movies. I really want to see Rachel getting married for sure.

Movie weekends are great! Then again, I am a big fan of movies. I think Brokeback is an excellent movie. I walked in on someone watching Rachel Getting Married and all I saw was like 15 minutes of dancing at a party. I love Anne Hathaway, but I think I'll be skipping this one.

"Rachel Getting Married" is my next movie I have to rent. I love that Anne Hathaway has made herself into a more versatile actor instead of falling into princessy, Disney stereotypes.

Churlita: You need to have a four day weekend, so you could have one of my lazy ones after one of your exciting, fun ones :-)

MrManuel: Me too. Lately I haven't been able to watch as many as I ideally would. Yeah, Rachel Getting Married was very...like you were watching something just going on. I liked that, but it isn't for everyone.

Tara: I really liked it. Let me know if you see it what you think of it.
