All My Life You're Haunting Me

Today we will have an easy and delicious Choose and Defend Wednesday. I feel like something sweet. Maybe because Halloween is on the way.  Maybe because I just like sweet things. Who's to say?

Here are a couple of sweet Autumn treats. Which do you prefer and why?

Candy Corn

OR

Caramel Apples

You may not have had this experience, but I have found that people tend to have rather strong positive or negative reactions to these two particular treats. Do you? Let's talk about it! Choose and Defend!

I don't know what candy corn is, never having had the experience, so I have to go with caramel apples. Your photograph displays a rather beautiful selection of caramel coated apples. I've tried toffee apples, which I liked as a child but went off them as an adult.

I'll go with caramel apples cuz it's healthy because, you know. Apples.

Great question! Even though I have a sandwich bag filled with candy corn in my desk, my favorite Halloween treat is to have a caramel apple. Oh, they're awesome. I love when the caramel layer seals in the freshness and juiciness of the apple.

I could have a caramel apple any time of the year, but my taste for candy corn fades quickly as soon as Halloween is over.

I like both! But, caramel apple - it' has to be a good apple so I only buy it at an apple orchard or make it myself. Otherwise, just eat a caramel alone.

After a few pieces of candy corn, I'm done. I'd say caramel apples, but what I really like are candy apples - you know, with the hard red cinnamon coating. So I'm going with a write-in candidate, candy apples.

I'm a middle of the road girl and I want to have the best of both worlds.

Caramel apple coated in candy corn pieces. Final answer.

So I have a thing about inspecting my fruit before eating it. I think it had to do with that half-a-worm joke I heard as a kid. So...if I didn't make the caramel apple myself, I assume the apple beneath the caramel is bruised, and pimpled with bird bites, and unclean.

Also, I can put away several handfuls of candy corn no problem.

I can only eat a few candy corns, and after biting into an extra hard caramel apple many years ago, I haven't tried again. Are there "soft" chocolate with nuts caramel apples? I'll have to try again...!

FW: Candy corn is fondant based...so really it is just pure sugar :)
I did think that was a rather nice display of caramel apples! So we have...One for Caramel Apples.

James: Of course! Very healthy fruit choice! Two for Caramel Apples.

Tara: I am a little jealous you have a bag of candy corn on your desk. I like your description of the appeal of caramel apples, very nice! Three for Caramel Apples.

NoRegrets: I remember that you are quite an apple connoisseur! And homemade is probably the best anyway :) Four for Caramel Apples.

Secret: Oh yes, good option! We can count those in. One for Candy Apples (subset: Five for Caramel Apples)

Jill: Who says you can't have it all? laura b. would not do that to Willowbottom! One for Both.

Allana: Oh, I totally get that! I had an awful experience with a peach as a child...and it wasn't even my peach! (Something about that sounds so wrong) Anyway, yes, good defense :) One for Candy Corn.

Cindy: Any super hard foods are not my friends. My teefs protest :) We will have to find you a nice soft chocolate, nut covered apple. One for Chocolate Apple (subset: Six for Caramel Apples)

Everyone: Loved your defenses this week! Very stong. So far, we have a score of 6-1, with Caramel Apples far in the lead...even sort of cheating Secret and Cindy into the Caramel Apple category :-D Jill of All Trades would not choose, but did defend her right to have it all. Yay!
Anyone else want to Choose and Defend their Autumn treat? Please join in!
