Mistress Mary Wasn't Contrary....

...she just needed to make a choice! And guess what? You do too, because it is Choose and Defend Wednesday in these here parts. This Choose and Defend is inspired by this season...this growing season. The crops are a-risin' and the flowers, they be bloomin'. Many of you are gardeners. Some of you may be simply garden appreciators. Either way, you surely have opinions and preferences. Gardening will do that to you. Okay. So, say that you had to make a choice (you do) and you could only grow one sort of a garden. And what if after you had made that choice, you were asked (you have been) to defend that choice, tooth and nail. Tell me about your one and only garden. Is it...

A Flower Garden
Or

A Vegetable Garden

Don't be contrary. Choose and Defend. How will your garden grow when your choices are very, very limited? Speak to me.

Hmmm, I wonder. This is a tough one, but I remember something I said a while back, if I can't eat it, I won't grow it. I am going to go with a Veggie Garden.

Flower garden... it's the only way I ever get flowers! Besides, they raise my spirits.

Vegetables all the way! I'm all about being practical... just grew my first bell pepper and chili pepper this past growing season :) planning on expanding the operation.

Isn't to say flowers aren't nice...

Actually, if you garden organically, it's good to have both. critters and bugs don't like the smell of certain flowers, and I used to line all my gardens with marigolds to keep them at bay. But for the purposes of you special Wednesday, I'll make a choice. Veggies. I love going out and picking the basil and tomatoes off the plant and eating them right away.

I have more success growing veggies than I do growing flowers from seed. So I choose a vegetable garden, definitely.

AlienCG: Aw, that wasn't really tough at all, was it. :-) Vegetables for you.

Movin': To the point! Vegetables for you.

Ananda: Soul sister. Exactly. Flowers for you.

Sebastien: I hadn't had you quite pegged as practical for some reason, but I will take your word for it :-) And keep on expanding that operation! Vegetables for you.

Churlita: I have heard that! I think that is so interesting and would love to be able to try that. You make a very convincing argument. Vegetables for you.

Pamela: I'm drooling a little...sounds like a good lunch :-) Vegetables for you.

Tara: Ah, that is a different line of reasoning. One I can easily relate to, as I do not have a green thumb unfortunately. Vegetables for you.

Everyone: I find that I am not too surprised, given that I do read your blogs, to see that you are very crop oriented :-) Vegetables have overtaken Flowers by a margin of 6 to 1 at this point. But, as always, I encourage anyone who hasn't spoken up to get on in here and let their opinion be known!
