I haven't had a long distance relationship before, so I can't say whether one would work or not. I think, though, if the relationship is strong enough, it has a very strong chance.
When BHM and I first met, he was working in Sarnia through the week and cacme home weekends.. It was tough at first.. but I don't think it was a "true" long distance relationship.. because he eventually moved in with me..But ti was still hard nonetheless.. But really worth it.. If its a strong one in the beginning it might last..otherwise it might go caputs before things got steamy!
I say it worth it.. Sometimes we have to take those risks.. Never say never kinda thing..
Well aside from my obvious bias... being in love with a man who lives 251 miles away that I visit like a religious fanatic each weekend and every day I can steal...
Man it sucks! I can hardly stand being away. But can it work? Well for me it was and is a price I am willing to pay. :-)
Of course I am moving there in 51 days and counting down. Yet it has been a true labor of love.
That's the thing. There has to be an end in sight. Or at least some idea that there will be an end in sight. There are the occasional people who could never actually live together who like being long distance, but I don't think that's you.
I agree with Pamela. I wouldn't sign up for it without an end date. If it's too long, then you're basically having a relationship in your head and in theory without any kind of reality. It can be crazy-making. If you both want it, you'll make it work and he'll give you an end date and make that effort. If not, he's an idiot and you don't want to date someone who is too stupid to get how amazing you are and worth any sacrifice.
I hope it's possible. Currently in one. It's a bit tricky with my gf's work, but the end game is living together and settling down and I will probably go with her wherever she goes next, at least for a good while.

I know this was a weird Choose and Defend, but I need to hear all this. Thank you so much, each of you.
distance makes the heart grow fonder?

Crazy4Coens: Here's hoping!
Sebastien: You are in one...that's true! I think we are going to give it a shot as well. Looking at the end game as well...
