Well, Darn It!

Daffy sent me this picture and it amuses me.

Okay, not to be a Negative Nelly, but this week is not behaving as fabulously as I was hoping.  Although in fairness to the week it really isn't that bad :-)   I'm just a bit under the weather...a little bit of an allergy issue is bringing me down and making small things seems bigger than they are.  I mean, I can think of certain situations where that might be a good thing, but you know...not in general.....

It is very busy at work.  I know that is a good thing.  We are all just a little overwhelmed right now, with lots of patrons to help, lots of programming going on.  Today, one of my co-workers called in sick.  Part of me wishes I had too!  Another small snag in my week involves the storytelling room (we call it the Imagination Theater, oooohhhh) being unexpectedly out of commission.  They were to lay down new carpet yesterday morning.  It was supposed to be done in a snap.  But somehow they didn't have enough carpet squares to complete the job.  How does this happen in a professional installation?  Hrumph!  Anyway, they had to order more and they MAY be back to finish on Thursday.  Meanwhile, we can't use the space.  So, this I have to do my Toddler Storytime in the picture book area.  Their parents will just have to keep them corraled I guess.  I really like having a room where they can walk around, but be confined.  Plus, it is fine if other people are nearby and feel compelled to join in on most of the elements.  I don't have extra crafts though, so hopefully people will understand that I can't hand them out to the room at large.  I also ususually show a little 5 minute video and we can't do that.  So, as you can see, there is nothing majorly wrong or even majorly difficult about this change.  Maybe I am just being rigid...and I do think if I felt more energetic it would help.   Anyway, then two more storytimes tomorrow morning and a class visit on Thursday morning...all a little discombobulated, but surely they will be fine in the end.

Oh, AND I had to go to the DMV this morning to renew my license.  I had an appointment and was in and out of there, but I felt quite put out at having to do it.  Someone probably needs to smack me upside my head and soon.  Here's to a better attitude tomorrow.  I will try to think of a fun Choose and Defend :-D

AH, the inner workings of the library. So many behind the scenes things we don't see. More than just checking out books and putting them back on the shelves.

A lot of work goes into putting these events/storytimes on for kids and the families.. I use to take LHM every week and I could see how much effort that these ladies put into the hour that they spent and getting to know us and our kids which made it feel more welcoming and not so cold and rigid.. Besides they did this every week and usually a few times for different age groups..That takes a lot of time and IMAGINATION!.. so despite the snags you have encountered.... they will all appreciate it so much more .. Hope the rest of your week goes without many more snags.. Afterall this is YOUR month!

I don't like the whole process of getting my license and my tags renewed. I have yet to go into the DMV and hear cheerful laughter and see authentic smiles.

I'm sorry to hear about the Imagination Theater being under construction. All I could think of was, maybe if the library staff and the customers imagined hard enough, the carpet would complete itself overnight. I think that would be pretty cool. But alas, we must wait for the all too real reality of an unfinished carpet. I hope they do get it finished on Thursday!

Are virtual smacks in the head sufficient? Consider it done.
Little things add up...but don't let it get you down...

MrManuel: Like any other world, it is complex and wonderous :-)

Mrs: What a wonderful comment to read! Thank you so much for such kind and encouraging words. I honestly do love my job, in spite of my complaints, and it is because of people just like you :-D

Tara: The DMV is a disheartening place for some reason, although the people I dealt with there were quite kind and efficient. It'll be nice to go back 10 years from now. haha!
I like the idea of the power of imagination saving us :-) Maybe it worked, because today is Thursday and the room is useable.

Pamela: Thank you! For the smack and the nice words.

When I'm under the weather, the little things seem to take longer and more effort. Any disturbance to the usual run of things can seem difficult. Hope you feel like your usual self soon.

I don't know how I missed this post. I hate it when all those little inconveniences start adding up. I hope things calm down for you.

FW: I so quickly forget feeling normal when I'm a little down. I feel like I'm just always going to be overwhelmed now, forever!

Churlita: I am feeling much better and at the same time things are running more smoothly. Coincidence? I think not :-)

I hope this week is going to go better for you Laura! better weather, less stress, no allergies...

And that pic is fantastic, reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes and all his demonic snowman creations.

Sebastien: Thanks, so far it is better...mainly because I do feel better.
Isn't that great? haha! I knew it reminded me of something!
