Those Crazy Cellular Telephone Things

In case you missed it, AlienCG has a hilarious list of rules for cell phone use posted at his site. It made me start thinking about cell phones, in general, and ringtones, more specifically. As I said there, my current ringtone is "Blister in the Sun" by Violent Femmes from way back in 1982. Nowadays, I guess that would be considered like classic rock, right? So it's classy to have that for a ring tone! Anyway, when my phone rings you will hear:
Let me go on
Like a blister in the sun
Let me go on
Big hands I know your the one
Body and beats
I stain my sheets
I don't even know why...

Then it trails off and if I haven't yet answered the phone it plays through another time or so, then falls mercifully (for some, I'm sure) silent and goes to voicemail. I used to have many, many ringtones downloaded. However, I have had a couple of phone based disasters, so right now, not so many. Word of advice, don't take your cell phone right into the pool with you or even drop it in there on its own. Those things would be bad for your phone. You know, just in case you were wondering... Um, anyway, I used to have all these different ringtones for different callers. Now everyone gets Blister in the Sun. I have had periods of switching to a regular phone ringing sound in an attempt to be less annoying to everyone. Then I get bored and chose a song again. Oh, and please don't think I'm completely thoughtless...at work, that baby goes on vibrate, thank you very much.
So, I thought I'd ask about your ringtones...what do you like to hear when being summoned by the outside world? Tell us all about it!
And hey, for those of you enjoying a long weekend, well...enjoy it! For those of you only subject to the usual two days off...my sincere condolences ;-)

Thanks for the Shout Out. The rules were discussed yesterday with my brother, but I appended them this morning for the original post. In all honesty, I was just looking for a reason to use "hemorrhoids" and "explosive diarrhea" in a post.

I thought about downloading some cool metal ring tones for the new phone, but I think I will just leave well enough alone. I am kind of partial to vibrate mode anyway. I have had a hard time hearing the ringer.

Good song by the way.

I have ringtones for different people too and the songs are sometims obnoxious and embarassing when they come on in the wrong surroundings..

I have 4 songs I use. Each one is more obnoxious than the next.. They do help me identify people I want to make an effort to run to the phone for. My daughters are Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N Roses, my girlfriends are These Boots are Made for Walking by Nancy Sinatra, my family gets Crazy Train by Ozzy, and everyone else rings as Synchronicity 2 by the Police.

I have not invested much in the different ring tones of my cellphone. I have "Hallelujah" on my cellphone right now, and also have "Funky Town" and then the other basic tones.

AlienCG: Hey, anyone who can work hemorroids and explosive diarrhea into a post is alright in my book!

Evil-E: Sometimes vibrate mode is definitely the way to go.

Princess Extraordinaire: Yeah, it is sometimes all about context. Thanks for stopping by!

Churlita: What cute choices :-) I like it when the songs really go with the callers. As long as we have our cell phones, might as well be creative...

Tara: Funky Town and Hallelujah...sounds like you got the spectrum of moods pretty well covered with those two!

HA! Mine just rings like an old fashioned telephone...the old rotary dial ones...I set my cell to that sound. It is pretty cool. My mother hates it. She doesnt even own a cell phone. Which drives me nuts when I cant find her.

Stepping: I used to have that too! My mom has a cell, but I'm not sure why, because she never has it on.
