Those Crazy Cellular Telephone Things
In case you missed it, AlienCG has a hilarious list of rules for cell phone use posted at his site. It made me start thinking about cell phones, in general, and ringtones, more specifically. As I said there, my current ringtone is "Blister in the Sun" by Violent Femmes from way back in 1982. Nowadays, I guess that would be considered like classic rock, right? So it's classy to have that for a ring tone! Anyway, when my phone rings you will hear:
Let me go on
Like a blister in the sun
Let me go on
Big hands I know your the one
Body and beats
I stain my sheets
I don't even know why...
Then it trails off and if I haven't yet answered the phone it plays through another time or so, then falls mercifully (for some, I'm sure) silent and goes to voicemail. I used to have many, many ringtones downloaded. However, I have had a couple of phone based disasters, so right now, not so many. Word of advice, don't take your cell phone right into the pool with you or even drop it in there on its own. Those things would be bad for your phone. You know, just in case you were wondering... Um, anyway, I used to have all these different ringtones for different callers. Now everyone gets Blister in the Sun. I have had periods of switching to a regular phone ringing sound in an attempt to be less annoying to everyone. Then I get bored and chose a song again. Oh, and please don't think I'm completely thoughtless...at work, that baby goes on vibrate, thank you very much.
So, I thought I'd ask about your ringtones...what do you like to hear when being summoned by the outside world? Tell us all about it!
And hey, for those of you enjoying a long weekend, well...enjoy it! For those of you only subject to the usual two days off...my sincere condolences ;-)

Play, My Prettys!
Here is something to amuse you. Fun! Yay!
Not the Fun Post...Yet
Sorry, but I had to come and blog my complaint for the day. It is pretty quiet here at work, because the system with which we moniter computer time is being upgraded. For today and tomorrow, there are no computers available to the public aside from the materials catalogs. No computers = no people. That is not my complaint. That is actually a rather nice break! My complaint is that when I explained the computer situation to a couple with a little boy (probably about 3 or so) he became quite upset and said, "That lady is stupid!" Meaning me. Now, he is just a little boy and he was disappointed. Still not quite my complaint. My complaint would be in the way the parents handled it. Instead of perhaps gently reminding the little guy that we don't use unkind words like that no matter how disappointed we are, they just laughed as though it were the cutest thing they'd ever heard. Well, probably they were mad because they couldn't use the internet and were happy that he'd said what they were thinking :-) But honestly, those parents are going to be very unhappy in a few years when their adorable little smart mouth still believes that it is okay to say whatever you want to whomever you want. Okay, complaint over...fun to come, I promise!
Day of the Disappeared
Reading the news, I saw that today is the Day of the Disappeared. Sounds like it might have to do with astounding magic tricks, but instead it is to draw attention to people who have seemed to simply vanish... unaccounted for as a result of armed conflict or internal violence. If you are interested, you can read more about it here: http:..www.icrc.org/Wed/Eng/siteeng0.nsf/htmlall/themissing?OpenDocument
Now, I promise to post something more fun in a bit...

My Triumphant Return
Okay, that may be overstating it a bit...but I am, at least, back! It was very nice having a few days off from work, but getting children ready to back to school is fraught with peril. My youngest son, who is now in 5th grade, actually didn't need too much. His grandma had gotten him a whole bunch of school supplies when they were on sale at Tar-jay. He is easy to buy clothes for too, so he had been getting a few items here and there. I only really needed to get him some new shoes and a haircut. The sides to his impulsively shaved mohawk had grown out enough so that the top could simply be trimmed down to match. I guess the peril of the whole enterprise really lie with my daughter. If I just say that she is a) a teenage girl, b) entering her first year of high school, and c) extremely particular, does that paint a pretty clear picture of how things might have gone for us? Got an idea in your head? Okay, now multiply the sheer horror by about 100 and you've got it. Still we got through it and by the time I dropped her off at her friend's house yesterday morning, so that they could arrive at school together, she was confident that she would not be humiliated by her hair, her clothing, or her school supplies. *whew* Everyone is happy. But, oh my, how it cost me. For the next couple of weeks I am hoping that anyone to whom I owe money will allow themselves to be put off a bit.
Personally, I don't remember it being this difficult when I was a child going back to school, but perhaps that is just because I was seeing it from a different angle. Anyway, let me just wish you all a Happy New Year, because that is how this time of year always feels to me! And couldn't most people use a fresh beginning about now? Or is that just me too?

We'll Be Back After a Brief Word From Our Sponsors
Just wanted to let my blogging friends know that I am taking a couple of extra days off...sort of extending my weekend, so that I can get my two youngest kids back to school with the correct supplies and clothes that don't look like their mommy hates them :-)
So, you know how that goes with the posting...it is not so likely to happen when I am away the workplace. But, never fear! I will be back next Wednesday. By then, I am hoping to see more interviews! I don't know...those are awesome... Please, everyone make sure to check over at Alien's Planet for his answers to my questions.
So, have a great weekend everyone. I'll look forward to catching up next week. Here is a very soothing, pretty picture to look at if you should randomly stop by....

Groovy Television
I tend to be a big fan of medical shows, but sometimes I find that I am tired of their weary cynicism. Quite awhile back they were running Emergency on TV Land. And I actually remember it from the original run in the bad old 70's. Here are three
reasons why I would occasionally prefer Emergency to, say, House:
1) On House the doctors and other personnel can get so frantic when working on patients. They yell orders to each other and growl things like "I'm telling you to step out!" On Emergency the paramedics and firemen cooperate and work quietly and
methodically. They pass each other things with a polite nod and sometimes there is no dialog at all when they are working.
2) On House when, for example, a doctor suggests to a father that he spend more time with his son, he is looking at a good ass kicking. On Emergency the dad says, "Thanks doc, thats a great idea!"
3) On House the closing shot is probably going to be House alone in his apartment, knocking back some more pills and perhaps morosely playing his piano, most certainly pondering the brutality of life.
On Emergency, it might end, as it did on one particular episode that I recall, with Joe sitting in bed after his successful go at a heart surgery having a nice thermos of clam chowder and reading a fashion magazine.
So there you have it. I am retreating to the days when men wore big fluffy sideburns and got embarrassed if they had to rescue a pretty girl in a bathtub.
Next installment....read about my love for a certain socially conscious Medical Examiner named Quincy. haha!

Blogging About a Random Object in My House
Once again I am celebrating a Taraday here in Bloglandia. See, I have this bedside table lamp which I adore beyond reason. This was actually the first thing that popped into my head when the idea of blogging about some homey object came up. It is not a very practical lamp for the bedside, in that it is a horrible reading light. It is much too dim, and the light is focused mostly downwards. When I read in bed and don't want the overhead light on, I either suffer with it a bit or sometimes use one of those little lights that you can clip right onto your book. How nerdy. Still, I love having this little lamp by the side of my bed. I couldn't find a picture of one quite like it online and don't have one handy, so I must ask you to imagine a sort of composite of this sort of basic shape...
...with a shade in this sort of glass...
So, we have the wrought iron stand and the dangling shade with the sort of glass chip design in various pinks and reds. You wouldn't want to use more than a 40 watt bulb in there. So, it is dim and gives off this beautiful glow. Not at all Roxanne putting out the red light...much more subtle and rosy. I have it attached to a dimmer cord, so that with a flick of my thumb I can have it turned all the way up or bring it down until there is barely a candle's glow of light. My bedroom hasn't seen any romantic action in...ugh, I can't think about how long...but this lamp casts a rather romantic light on my sometimes lonely bed.
WTG actually bought it years ago for one of the boy's rooms, but it was not at all masculine and was quickly passed on to me. I became and remain very attached to it for some reason. Maybe because it is so feminine and I don't have many things that are super-duper girlie (aside from my daughter - haha!) When I think of things I wouldn't like to do without, my romantic little lamp is definitely a contender.

Thanks to David in DC for the fun questions.
Read on, please.
1. So, what would you like to tell us about Miss Personality and Love Bug? (In my experience, grandmas always like this question)
Aw, yes, of course we love to pull out our Granny’s Brag Book with the endless pictures of the grandkids doing various adorable things and begin orating only to end when the other party suddenly remembers somewhere else they need to be.
Miss Personality is called that for a reason. She is very bright, curious, and engaging. She is a beautiful girl, very dark and petite. She actually looks a lot like her biological father, but her resemblance to Kick Back Dude is uncanny as well, because she gestures and makes expressions just like him. Miss Personality is an astounding mimic. Verbally and physically, she can copy almost anything. Even though she is only 2, I predict that she will be a very good student and an excellent athlete. My favorite thing is when she runs to me, hugs me and says, “It’s so nice to see you, Grandma!”
We are all just getting to know Love Bug. Today she is 12 days old. Of course, she is a gorgeous baby. Since there wasn’t a long labor, she came out looking nice, not all squishy faced. She has incredibly long skinny feet. She has a lot of dark hair and her eyes seem a little lighter and bluer each day. She has a great appetite and she’s a good sleeper. So far, she seems like a calm person. Not the hysterical, needing to blow off steam type like some babies. She doesn’t like to be swaddled; possibly because it is so warm, but mostly it seems like she just really likes stretching out. I can’t wait to get to know her as she grows.
Oh, what? This is the longest answer to a question ever? You’ve all suddenly remembered a sudden appointment? Okay, I’ll stop.
2. What's different about the library today, from when you started there?
I have only been working in libraries for about nine years, but I would say the biggest change is the growing reliance on the Internet and online databases for information. Librarians, to remain relevant, have had to become experts at doing what we have always done, helping people to locate information, but in a whole new way.
Another big change in the library, or maybe in the marketing of books in general, can be traced to the explosion of the first Harry Potter book. Until that time, of course there were popular books for both children and adults. I think the marketing phenomenon of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s (or Philosopher’s) Stone marked the beginning of a new level of excitement that could be at least aimed for when selling an author or title to the public. It was like the “Who shot J.R.?” moment of the literary world. Books (other than those of the self-help variety) could become pop culture phenomenons.
3. Why do you blog?
I have always been a journal-keeping sort. But if I just wanted to continue writing things down, I could always do that in a private, more traditional way. When I started my blog it was, for all intents and purposes, private but when I started getting a few regular people who would stop by and read I found that I loved hearing other people’s comments on things that I was going through. I would say that now I blog for the same reason that I read and listen to music…to know that I am not alone.
4. Looking at men strictly as sex objects, which do you prefer: tighty-whitey briefs or boxers with a funny slogan or design?
Strictly as sex objects? Then I don’t care what they are wearing as long as they are clean and aren’t falling away from the elastic in big droopy holes. Haha! Just take ‘em off, whatever style they are! (Oh, alright…I actually prefer boxer style briefs in colors….)
5. Action figures are coming out now for all sorts of characters. RFB just bought a Jane Austin action figure. What character, living or dead, fictional or non-fictional, would you like if someone were to buy you an action figure?
Well, you know I love non-traditional action figures! I would actually love a Jane Austen too! I do have, right here at my desk, Librarian Nancy Pearl, Einstein, Casanova, and JP Patches the Clown. You may remember the lovely portrait I shot of them with my camera phone. Look HERE. If I could have anyone as an action figure, I think I would choose one of my favorite authors. Books are important to me. It is hard to narrow it down to one author and someday perhaps someone will get me a complete set of my favorites. For now I will go with Haruki Murakami. Or oooohhh! I would really like a Steely Dan pair! My own little Donald and Walter.
Here are the rules, if you'd like for me to dream up 5 different questions for you.
1. Leave me a comment saying "Interview Me". (Perfect strangers are welcome, as well.)
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your blog with a post containing your answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
Thanks again, DiDC :-)

Dance Like Mick Jagger Day
Today seemed like a good day to celebrate a Taraday.
I'm a Stones fan...AND a Beatles fan. The two are not mutually exclusive no matter what some will say.
When I Googled the phrase "Dance Like Mick Jagger" this site was the first hit. Some interesting quotes from M.Jagger and others on his performance style. This quote was my favorite:
I get a strange feeling onstage. I feel all this energy coming from an audience. They need something from life and are trying to get it from us... I entice the audience, of course I do. I do it every way I can think of... What I'm doing is a sexual thing. I dance, and all dancing is a replacement for sex. What really upsets people is that I'm a man and not a woman. I don't do anything more than a lot of girl dancers, but they're accepted because it's a man's world. What I do is very much the same as a girl's striptease dance.
- Mick Jagger, 1966
I think it is an interesting, although not new idea, that dancing is a replacement for sex. Is it?

My Quiet Time
Yesterday after lunch, my dad and stepmom took Girlie Girl and Handsome Lad back to their house in Malibu for a couple of days. The kids like the beach and getting to go shopping (and they do need some back to school stuff) and mom likes a couple days feeling almost childfree. I love that quiet time, I do, but I also sort of feel lonely. Pathetic! I am going to treat myself to some sort of nice dinner on my own this evening, get a big fat magazine, and watch things I have been wanting to watch from my Tivo. I need to learn to enjoy not being...needed.

Must Be a Slow News Day
Once again, I bring you, my retarded conversational skillz... My friend DR is great for facilitating dorkiness.
DR: How is that, you are much knowledgeable than me, you work in a freakin' liberry! I am sad that I didn't find it on my own, <3
me: I work in a libeary so I know about libras and bears and going shush :-) (^.^)
()_()
(=.=)
DR: I always meant to ask, do you shush people? Regularly?
<><>
^^
===\\
me: hee hee! Sure, I am rocking my bun and specks and frowning at everyone while using my powerful "shhhh" finger to the lips signal. They cower before me, of course, but then the men go home and fantasize about removing my glasses and taking down my hair and doing naughty things to me in remote, dusty corners of the stacks.
*sigh* Sorry for that...

Sabra won. Thats okay, I like her...she was my 2nd choice. Still, now I have to buy everyone dinner this weekend. Which, when I think about it, I probably would have ended up doing anyway :-) And don't worry, I still love you Danny, you magnificent beast. haha!

So You Think You Can Dance
I am pretty sure that no one who reads my blog also watches So You Think You Can Dance. Still, indulge me for a moment. I'm sorry, I love it. It is a weekly (or bi-weekly) event in either my home or the little family's pad. These dancers are, I kid you not, amazing. Tonight is the season finale and there is dinner riding on the winner. Kick Back Dude is taking Sabra, Princess Diva has Lacey, Girlie Girl loves her some Neil, and I am a Danny devotee. He won me over after many weeks of hard work. I'm sure he appreciates my support. haha!
Anyway, part of the fun of loving something is reading blogs about it. You don't even have to love this show to find this guy's postings pretty darn entertaining.
I Lurve Ya, Danny Tidwell!

'Cos Happy and Sad Come in Quick Succession
In the the legendary style of Churlita, I am using a song line for my headline. It came to me as I was driving to work today and suddenly got all lit up when a song I love came on the radio. Things aren't entirely fabulous for me right now, but there are always small moments that bring pleasure. I think I'm a pretty simple animal, really. It doesn't take a winning lottery ticket to make me feel genuine joy (although it certainly wouldn't hurt!)
Here is a small list of small things that can make me smile and feel gratitude for my life:
-Hearing a song I like, especially unexpectedly.
-A soft breeze on my skin.
-Seeing people behaving kindly to others in stressful situations.
-Walking, and suddenly becoming aware of how efficient and strong my body is.
-Falling into helpless laughter over some silly inside joke with my kids or friends.
What are some little things that make you happy?

Lunchy Goodness
Today me and my ladies went to Leroy's for lunch. Not my favorite kind of lunchy goodness, but a close second for sure. Usually I get breakfast for lunch there, because it is the only place I really love the breakfast items. Today though, I was craving a cheeseburger. It was fabulous! Since I had never had a burger there I was taking a chance, but it turns out there serve it just the way I like it! Big fat well cooked meat patty, choice of cheese (make mine jack!), slightly toasty bun, a nice little pile of bacon, and all the topping and condiments on the side! Okay, I know this isn't a healthy meal, but damn, it was delicious! Tater tots on the side and a coke completed the gosh darn near perfect meal. Now if only it were nap time instead of back to work time....

An Ode to Friends
Here is a photo of my and my two best friends taken last Christmas. Nothing more recent? Apparently not. Anyway, we all look pretty much the same. Left to right you will see me (alias Bubba or DMB1), Milly (DMB2), and Ceku (DMB3). We also refer to ourselves, amongst ourselves, as the Dancing Murder Bears. Why? Why ask why? Ask instead, why not?
When I get myself into my funky little moods, I don't know what I would do without pals to sort of talk me down. They don't even need to actually focus on my mood. All they need to do is talk to me. There is just something about genuine friendship. It is both less and more complicated than familial relationships. Your family is your family. Those thick blood ties that sometimes comfort and sometimes strangle. Your friends are a choice and that choice is very freeing somehow. My friends Milly and Ceku give me a version of me that is funny, strong, and able to handle the shit.
Who are you best friends and what do they give you?

A Reason for Everyone to Be Glad I Don't Text You When I'm Bored
Milly: I sent you an ecard. DId you get it? I can't tell if it got sent!
Me: Yes, yes, I was just going to open it!
Milly: Cool, it worked! I'm sure it's not as good as L's
Me: Better by far!
Milly: You're just saying that so I won't cry!
Me: Not at all. I am not trying to break your heart.
Milly: Oh thank you, kind Bear! Please don't tear my heart out of my chest with your fierce claws.
Me: I have sheathed my fearsome claws.
Milly: Thank you again, Kind Bear. Could you please give me an egg or flower to show your kindness?
Me: Certainly. Perhaps you would like a nice piece of rubber fruit from that meeting I went to today...or a nice fruit leather?
Milly: I eat all kinds of fruit! Leather or Rubber? That sounds weird.
Me: I know huh! Very S&M fruit choices...
Milly: Those poor innocent fruits. THey have no idea what they're part of.
Me: Oh, I don't know about that. They like to act all pure and innocent, but it could well be an act...

Bubble Gum Cigars for Everyone!
Please join me in welcoming my new granddaughter to the world. She arrived August 10 at 4:29 am. I had come to the hospital to keep Kick Back Dude company at about 1:30 am, since Princess Diva had been in labor there since about 10 or so. Things started picking up speed really quickly it seemed...the nurses were sort of relaxed because before going off on a break or something the nurse who was caring for PD told the replacement nurse that this was a first baby..however, this was a second baby and things do tend to move a bit faster. By a little after 4 am the nurses were all set to deliver the baby themselves if the doctor didn't arrive in time. I ended up staying in the room (it was a labor and delivery suite). KBD was on one side and I was on the other as the baby was born. It was the first time I had been seen a baby being born that wasn't, you know, mine
:-) It was very exciting! After the baby made her escape, the doctor (who looked more like a homeless poet) offered the clippers to the proud father. He acted like he was being offered dessert after a full meal and said, "No, no, I'm good..." He offered them to me next and I was all over it. If you ever get a chance, be sure to cut the umbilical cord...it was an oddly amazing feeling.
She weighed in at 7 lbs., 1 oz. and 18.5 inches long. She has lots of dark hair and is an all around beautiful girl. Before she was born they had been kicking around a few names. A favorite was Brooklyn...but once she was born they decided to go more traditional and settled on Audrey May. I think that is a really pretty name. Here, she will be called Love Bug :-) I will surely post a picture or two soon.
I ask that you all send good thoughts to Love Bug and the rest of the little family.
Thanks!!!

Trilogy of Terror
I remember watching the original broadcast of Trilogy of Terror in 1975. I would have been 12. Over the years it became a sort of cult classic, although after that original viewing I never saw it again until today. When Milly asked if I wanted to watch it at lunch I remembered it and was excited to see it. I clearly remembered the one about the little African doll, but realized I had no memory of the other two stories. Once we started watching, I realized why I didn't remember the other two stories. "Julie" and "Millicent and Terese" were both...well, not terrifying. And if fact, when I was 12 they would have been even less scary I think, because I wouldn't really have gotten the psychological elements at play. The third part, Amelie, was the good one! Now that one is classic! Watching it again, I was not surprised that it stuck with me. It is silly in a way, but this one earns the "terror" title. Ah, good times, good times. Here is a picture of the scary Zuni fetish doll.Don't let the soul of that Zuni warrior enter your body!
PS- After I posted this, I looked down and realized there is a slight resemblance between the doll and Frank N. Furter....hm.

My Favorite Drag
Now, I'm no expert, but I suppose there is a difference between dressing in drag and being a sweet transvestite. Still for my purposes the difference seems negligible. Here is a picture of one of my favorite character of stage and screen.
~/o I'm just a sweet transvestite, from transexual Transylvania-a-a! ~/o Sing it Frankie!

Here is a link some of you might enjoy. It is great for finding scary stories to tell at your next slumber party! http://www.americanfolklore.net/ss.html.
Now, get those s'mores going!

Sighs and Swoons
I am just commemorating, in the blogosphere, another nice lunch with Team C. Maybe it is TMI, but he does make me feel really, really good. So yeah, why not?

Never Was There a Love Like Ours Gigi
I didn't blog on Blog About Your Most Cherished Childhood Possession Day, but today seems like a good day to have at it.
Gigi...how can I describe her? Actually, I wish I had a picture handy. I will have to find one and scan it at some point. Anyway, let me try and describe her. She is a white stuffed dog...her body was filled with old rags, because originally she was meant to be a pajama bag. She has a zipper in the back and the idea is that each morning when you take off your jammies, you store them in your darling pajama bag which reclines adorably on your bed disguised as a stuffed toy. Gigi never held my pajamas. She stayed stuffed all the time with whatever my mom had stuffed in there. At the very beginning of her life, I believe she was a dapper young fellow with a felt top hat and bow tie. By the time I have any real memory of her, those things were long destroyed and she was just a plain white dog. I don't remember why I called her Gigi, but that was her name and my mom says I did name her. She didn't look like a traditional dog. She was sort of long and skinny, with long, snaky arms and legs, a longish, flattened body, and a cute round head that flopped on her shoulders. She had embroidered black eyes, a black nose, and a little red mouth. I loved her droopy, hanging down ears.
I had many stuffed animals as a little girl and some of them were quite treasured. Gigi, however, was the undisputed Queen of all of my toys. She was so perfect to hug and rest my head on. I always thought of her as being kind and calm. She and my bear Bluey, were the only stuffed animals that I took when I moved out on my own. After I moved in with WTG, I ended up giving them back to my mom to hold, because he was always threatening to throw them away. Thinking back years later, that should have told me something! 20/20 hindsight...
Writing about her has made me really want to see her! I think it is time to get her back from my mom.

Not Yet...
Kick Back Dude and Princess Diva went to the hospital last night, but after a couple of hours they sent them on home. Not quite time just yet. Princess is tired and discouraged and seems almost to not believe me when I reassure her that this baby will actually come, and soon!

On Pins & Needles
I am feeling a bit on edge today, because since the moment I arrived at work at noon I have been getting texts from Princess Diva describing her contractions. I think this baby might be arriving quite soon. It is a little early, but not too early. I am trying to divert her by talking about names, as they still haven't settled on one, but I don't think I'm doing much good there :-)
Meanwhile, out of the blue, I get a phone call from Team C. We might have lunch on Wednesday if I am not on some sort of baby duty. It was sweet how excited he is for me.
Anyway,I will be sure to let you all know when my new granddaughter arrives...

Happy Birthday (tomorrow) Kick Back Dude
My first born son is turning 22 tomorrow. For those doing the math, that is the same age I was when he was born. It should make me feel old, but for some reason it makes me feel young! Since I was young when I had him, I am still kind of young, right? Yeah :-) It is pretty cool that his own daughter will be born just about any day now. We not so stable in the finances dept., but we sure like us some babies! Ah, well, why not...might as well celebrate life and let the rest take care of itself. Have a great weekend, all y'all.

So Sue Me!
About a year ago Social Animal was in an auto accident on the freeway. If you want, you can read about it HERE.
Okay? Well this is still being dealt with by the insurance company. The agent handling the claim for us has been CCing me on her correspondence with the parties involved. Basically trying to get them to settle and to provide the documentation of their medical bills, etc. Yesterday she called me at work to let me know that they are, at this point, refusing to release anything else to her and saying they are going to file a lawsuit against...I'm not sure who, me probably, as the policy holder. She said that she doesn't see any evidence that anything has been filed yet, that if they do they will have to provide the documentation she has been seeking anyway, and that I should let her know if I am served or receive any contact from them and they will handle it. Part of me is sort of freaking out, although in the back of my mind I knew this was a possibility. Another part of me though feels simply tired. I don't know what they could get from me...part of my income for life? I don't really have anything they could take. Plus, it was an accident...what could I have done? How can I be held responsible? (Although, of course people are held responsible all the time for things they can't control.)
I am trying not to worry about it too much, because there is nothing I can do about it one way or the other no matter what happens. Maybe I should be more worried or I should be proactive in some way, but I just can't imagine what I could do.

Making Jewelry Out Of Office Supplies
I couldn't let this Taraday pass me by.
This picture is particularly poor in quality...notice the sickly green of my skin? I am not really that color...really!
Anyway, I wanted to avoid the old paper clip stand by, but there isn't much else in the way of office supplies that works as jewelry. So, I sort of cheated and used other things that happened to be sitting on my desk. The fabulous red ring is fashioned from a twist tie thingy. The gorgeous green bracelet is crafted from a straw and scotch tape. Magnifique!

Things You Don't Want to Hear
Last night at 9pm, when I was driving home from work, I was keeping myself amused by trying to think of the phrases that no one wants to hear under any circumstances. It actually sort of started as trying to think of cool pretend band names, but turned into this. Here you go:
-It's the transmission.
-Is this YOUR dog? (can substitute son, daughter, etc.)
-You might want to try a stronger deodorant. (can substitute breathmint, mouthwash, etc.)
-Did you mean for it to look like that?
-Let me write up an estimate. This will take a few minutes.
