There Are Times, When All the World's Asleep...

It all seems so LOGICAL.  Yes, that is the word of the day for our Saturday Scavenger Shots.  LOGICAL.  I was stumped!  So I just went with my gut...which isn't at all LOGICAL...or is it?

Here are a couple of geese way too close to me at Legg Lake this morning.  I found that I was rather uncomfortable when the water fowl got too close to me.  That doesn't really seem very LOGICAL.  Still, they are rather aggressive, because even though there are signs saying not to, people feed them all the time.  So maybe there is something LOGICAL about a bit of caution when they wander very close.

While there may be not much that is LOGICAL about a slight fear of water fowl, there is something very LOGICAL about having a bubbly swim!  Not in the mood for a bath?  More into a swim today?  Well, it is only LOGICAL to throw in some bubbles and clean up while you're there!

Hope that your day has been LOGICAL in all the best ways.  There is something LOGICAL in my relief that Summer Reading Program is over.  Work will be much calmer this month and I'm pretty into that idea.  Look out August...here we come!

I wonder if maybe Silly Rabbit would like to choose a word for next week?

Say Hello, Say Hello to Tomorrow

Let's keep it simple and refreshing for today's Wednesday Choose and Defend.  It is summer and we are feeling it now.  So have a drink, friend.  Which do you prefer...and why?
Ice Tea
OR

Lemonade

I feel cooler already!  So please, Choose and Defend...and have a great Wednesday!

And Some Folks Even See the Bear In Me

Hello to you.  I wish to welcome you to my Saturday Scavenger Shots blog post.  This week's word is BEAR.   As you may know, I myself am actually a BEAR, enslaved and forced to dance before crowds of jeering people to earn my keep.  It is true.  Well, if what you imagine in your head is true...then it is true!  Anyway, when I chose the word BEAR, I didn't know what I would use here.  It's true that I do have lots of BEAR stuff around me.  I decided that today I would focus on my Sebastien collection of fine BEAR themed tees.  Enjoy the fabulousness -

I feel fairly certain you are quite jealous of my beautiful BEAR shirts.

I haven't added anything to my collection in  quite some time, but young Sebastien is constantly adding new pieces (not exclusively BEAR themed) to his body of work.

I have just one more BEAR I'd like to share.  Here she is -

This lovely little lady BEAR was given to me by DR last year.  She has a light up heart on her chest and she sings L-O-V-E when you squeeze her hand.  She is a much sweeter BEAR than I am.

This concludes my Saturday Scavenger Shots blog post all about BEARs.  Thanks for visiting.  Thanks for the honey.  So long, and thanks for all the fish.

It's a Big Wide, Wonderful World

This post will be a photo display of the best things about yesterday.  I went to a Chris Isaak concert with my friend Ceku.  It is the third summer in a row that we've been to see him.  Each time, a different venue.  This year, he played at the Orange Country Fair.  The pavillion there is not very large and we had great seats.  Plus, before the concert we got to enjoy the fair..which was mostly about checking out the different food stands :-)   Here's some stuff -

Fair food involves lots of deep frying, lots of bacon and other meats,
and lots of sweets.  Adorably coronary causing!

THIS is chocolate covered bacon.  I'm not gonna lie.
It was pretty, pretty, pretty good...

This is the sort of picture I get when I try to take pictures at concerts.  But there he is...Chris Isaak.  His show is lots of fun, he has an amazing voice,
and Silvertone is a very talented band!

Here is my concert ticket.  Very affordable!
And did I mention how awesome it was.  Totally worth it.

I like to get t-shirts from his concerts, because he does the art work himself.
So cute.

And that was my great day!  Hope you are having a good week, thus far.  If you haven't had a chance to Choose and Defend yet, please step into the basement  ↓↓↓  and give it a whirl.  xx

Here I Go and I Don't Know Why

I hope you've stopped by for a little Choose and Defend Wednesday, because that's what you're getting!  I mean, not claiming it is much of one, but see what you can do with it, okay?  Okay!
Today I am going to have you make a change in one way or another.  The choice is yours, of course, as you get to Choose.  I also ask that you Defend your choice.

Would you rather be...

Permanently Bald

OR

Permanently Barefoot
Think it over...then Choose and Defend!  Thx.

PS- Not bagging on bald or balding men here...I'm kind of into it.  Thinking more in terms of committing to keeping your head shaved forever.  K?

Shall I?

Shall I just pick the next Saturday Scavenger Shots word?  I think I shall!  And remember...any and all are welcome to play along.  This week's word is - BEAR.  You had to know it would come eventually!  Run with it, babies, run with it.

In Warming Hum

Just getting in under the wire here on the West Coast to allow this to be an actual Saturday Scavenger Shots post.  It wasn't exactly a busy day, but it also wasn't exactly a computer-y day.  But here I am with my BRIC-A-BRAC shots, as decreed by the lovely Silly Rabbit at Down Silly Rabbit's Hole.

Here is some kitchen BRIC-A-BRAC.  I have this little shelf with some Pyrex bowls filled with stuff and things that accumulate.  Things that come from people's pockets, mail, coupons, the candy my mom brings.  I do love my bowls.
Useful BRIC-A-BRAC!

This is the bookcase in my bedroom.  The top two shelves hold BRIC-A-BRAC, rather than books.  I seem to have gathered together a few bears and other little friends...candles...some photos.  Stuff it is nice for me to look at from my bed.
Sweet, soothing BRIC-A-BRAC.

Hope you all are having a great weekend!  Happy (belated) Birthday to one of my favorite bloggers Churlita at Churlish Figure.  She's awesome.

Now...what's next?  Bring it.

More Than Anything, I Swear

I'm all loopy with not enough sleep and too much thinking, so I thought for this week's Choose and Defend Wednesday we'd get down to basics.  This question has been asked time and time again in all sorts of situations, by all sorts of people....but I'm pretty sure I haven't asked it here.  So..which do you prefer?

Boxers
OR

Briefs
Of course, I was rather tempted to offer photos that were much more interesting than these...but decided against distracting everyone (me) from the issue at hand :)    As always, though, feel free to include personal anecdotes in your defense!  Has there ever been a bad underwear story?  Um, well...anyway - Choose and Defend!!!

Oh, the Hullabaloo!

Not to harp on about it...but I'm going to anyway...it has been sooo busy at work!  I guess this is the time of year when I truly earn my keep :-)

Saturday I hosted my annual tween party.  This year, it was called Tourist Trap Tween Party, to go along with our One World, Many Stories summer reading program theme.  I had a great turnout and it went very well.  It was a difficult day though, as one co-worker called in sick.  That left only two of us to cover the eight hours on the desk...while I needed time to set up for, present, and clean up after my program.  That meant that my super robot boss had an awful lot of desk time...it couldn't be helped...and I went from having one hour to having three.  And the place was packed.

Sunday was a pretty peaceful and quiet day.  I slept in a bit and then just mostly sat with Girlie Girl and Handsome Lad around the air conditioner and around the pool.  Later on, in the evening, Girlie Girl hosted a spa session with our lovely Miss Personality and Love Bug.
Pictured here: Girlie Girl provides a nice pedicure to Miss Personality, while Love Bug waits her turn.  I believe Handsome Lad was offering massage services...
or a beating.  One or the other...

Today has once again been very fraught with activity, as only a Monday can be.  We are, however, beginning Week 4 (of 6) so the end is in sight.  Soon, I will be back to slacking for a living ;-)  I mean, when I think of how my Facebook and Twitter accounts suffer on days such as these, I just want to cry.  However, I will bravely carry on.

It Feels Like Years Since It's Been Here

Saturday Scavenger Shots time. Thanks for coming up with a great word, Tara!  For those of you not reading my blog front and back and side to side, today's word is SUN.  It was a bit late in arriving this summer, at least late in putting in regular appearances.  But it is here now, with a vengeance!  I love it.  Well, not the rays on my skin, because I am so white and was so careless in my youth, I worry about the effects it may have had.  But I love the heat.  So  here is my brief salute to the SUN -

This SUN is on a pillow case from an old set of sheets that I have.  I love celestial designs like that...the stylistic sun and moon with faces...they've always appealed to me.  Hi there, Benevolent SUN :-)

This little SUN is a tattoo on someone's shoulder.  Not mine...I don't have any tattoos.
Whose SUN tattoo is this?  I will let you guess.

I used to have a lot of SUN themed decorative items on the walls and such over the years.  Where I am now though, I am more minimalist and don't have too much going on in the way of decorative bric-a-brac.  Well...a few things here and there, but no SUN at present.

I hope you enjoyed walking in the SUN with me today!  And let's see if we can involve our third faithful player of Saturday Scavenger Shots....Silly Rabbit, wanna take a wack at next week's word?  If so...name...that...word!!!   EVERYONE everywhere is welcome to play.  If you have some SUN on you, blog it, baby!  Happy Saturday :-)

Escapades for Days

T-t-t-time for Wednesday Choose and Defend.  Quite a week I have going on so far.  Loved the long weekend, but didn't love having to do Monday and Tuesday's work all in one day.  *whew!*  Yet here we are, already at Wednesday.  Today I thought I'd ask you what your nose knows.  More specifically, I thought I'd ask you how you feel about wearing scents, such as perfumes and aftershave.  Granted, some people are more, shall we say, skilled, at wearing these things than others.  But, in general, do you prefer...
Scented
OR

Unscented

As always, it is a pretty general question...but once you Choose, feel free to get specific in your Defense!

Hope your week is acting right for you.  If not, send it my direction and I'll knock some sense into it.  xx

Happy Independence Day, My American Cousins

Hope all of my friends in the U.S. have a great 4th.  We don't have any huge plans around here.  Regular Monday lunch thing, which I can actually attend, since I am off work today.  Later Handsome Lad and I will probably go off to a fireworks show at a local park with Kick Back Dude and his family.  I don't see a barbeque in my near future, but I think I can be okay with that.  Then tomorrow, back to the kid zone...

KA-BLAM!  (and Happy Birthday to my Twitter friend @Girleastlikely2)

How Hard Must I Try?

It is a blazing hot Saturday and time for some Saturday Scavenger Shots.  This week's word is UTENSIL.  When I chose this word, I didn't have a clear idea of what I would do with it.  I just liked the way it looks like it might be spelled wrong...and it starts with a U.  Um.  So anyway,  here is what ended up happening...I woke up this morning and still didn't have a reasonable UTENSIL photo.  Clearly, then, I had to photograph my breakfast.  I mean, what choice did I have?

Here is my bowl of cereal, featuring the lead UTENSIL for today...Sir Spoon.  Well, yes, there is quite a bit of sugar on those corn chex.  It was an accident.  Possibly the fault of some other nefarious UTENSIL.
Clearly, Sir Spoon is a fine UTENSIL and made short work of the job at hand.  Another successful feed!
Now I'ma go about my business and you're gonna go about yours.  If you are a decent human being you will not speak of what you saw here today.  Good day to you.  I said Good DAY!

Friday 5 - Five for 5's Fifth

Happy Friday!  Tomorrow begins a long weekend for a good many of us, right?  I am thrilled to have a three day weekend and pleased to be doing a Friday 5 meme once again :-)  Apparently last week concluded the 5th year of Friday 5's existence, so this week is a celebration of that.  I am all for celebrations, so let's go!

1. Of the five weekdays, which is the easiest to get through?  That's easy!  It is always Friday.  Every other week it is one of my days off...and even when I am working, it is Friday!  Surely the most beloved of all the weekdays.

2. Which of the five little piggies is the most bizarrely characterized? For some reason I've always found it a bit disquieting to imagine pigs eating roast beef.  Just seems sorta wrong somehow.  Plus, it's the middle piggie, who I've always assumed was a bit of a trouble maker...

3. Of fire, earth, metal, water, and wood, from which do you draw your power? Wasn't sure how to answer this one, so I did what any normal person would do.  I took some online "which element am i" quizzes.  I went the extra mile and took three of them...and they ALL said I was Water.  So there you go.  Water.

4. Haribo Gummy Bears come in five flavors: pineapple (white), strawberry (green), raspberry (red), lemon (yellow) and orange (orange). Which is your favorite?  The difference in the flavors is not terribly overwhelming...but I'm gonna go with lemony yellow.  And Gummy Bears are awesome.

5. Which of the five basic tastes (sweetness, sourness, bitterness, saltiness, and savoriness) best describes your personality?  Hmmm.  Well, I know that sometimes I can be a bit bitter.  And I like to think I am sweet.  I don't really see myself as too salty or sour.  Maybe I am savory.  Yeah, I like the sound of that.  I am savory.

This was an unusual, but fun, Friday 5.  I hope you'll play along in comments or on your blog!  The Fiveness depends upon it :-)

Have a great weekend and don't forget that tomorrow some of us will be showing off some kind of UTENSIL....maybe even more than one!  You're not gonna wanna miss that....
