Fire

Just a quick post. As I mentioned yesterday...and as anyone who isn't in hibernation knows, Southern California is burning like a mofo. I talked to my friend in San Diego and the one in Irvine where the fires are bad. They, their families, and their homes are safe. I am a little worried though, because I can't get ahold of my dad and stepmom. I am going to assume I would hear if there was something really wrong. They do travel a lot and often don't stay in touch, so I am going to go ahead and assume that it is that sort of thing.
The fires haven't moved to close to my area, but the winds have made sure that the air is disgusting. It is hot and murky and there is ash everywhere.
Think good thoughts, please.

I hope your dad gets in touch with you soon. My brother has the same habit, he does not keep in touch, doesn't return too many phone calls either. But I'm hoping your dad knows that it would be courteous to give you a call considering the circumstances.

I'm so sorry to hear it. Fire is terrifying. When I used to fight them, I'd have horrible (suffocation" nightmares all the time.

Tara: Still no word. He darn well better be in Arizona.

Churlita: Oh, I can imagine. It is incredible that you were so brave!

I have seen the coverage and that is a scary situation going down out there. The satellite images were the most jarring...I could not believe how much area is actually being consumed. The entire city of Cleveland would fit in one area of LA/Malibu...

Evil-E: The weather is finally cooperating a little bit..cooler with less wind. They are saying that this is the largest evacuation that has ever been done in the state. I have a feeling it is going to top a few other records too.

MiniJonB: The weather is cooperating. Seems that they are starting to get things under control, which is pretty amazing considering how much land has been burning.
