An Ode to Friends

Here is a photo of my and my two best friends taken last Christmas. Nothing more recent? Apparently not. Anyway, we all look pretty much the same. Left to right you will see me (alias Bubba or DMB1), Milly (DMB2), and Ceku (DMB3). We also refer to ourselves, amongst ourselves, as the Dancing Murder Bears. Why? Why ask why? Ask instead, why not?
When I get myself into my funky little moods, I don't know what I would do without pals to sort of talk me down. They don't even need to actually focus on my mood. All they need to do is talk to me. There is just something about genuine friendship. It is both less and more complicated than familial relationships. Your family is your family. Those thick blood ties that sometimes comfort and sometimes strangle. Your friends are a choice and that choice is very freeing somehow. My friends Milly and Ceku give me a version of me that is funny, strong, and able to handle the shit.
Who are you best friends and what do they give you?

Well I'm very good friends with my mom, but sometimes it is obvious when she crosses the line from being friend to being my mother. So that's when I go to the friends I met in high school, Sarah and her sister Fidelle. Usually Sarah, though, and we laugh at the silliest stuff and the problem is solved.

I have a lot of friends in general...they all have their own "special powers". My workwife, Wifey has the ability to make me smile and to get me off of a subject I am crabbing about. The metal dudes are the metal dudes, the worlds problems go away when hanging out, drinking beer, talking metal, and being stupid. My old friend Matt-1 takes me back to the golden age....I could go on for days.

Tara: It is cool that you consider your mom a good friend. Many a daughter would envy that!
And it is so good to have friends to laugh with, isn't it?

Evil-E: If you could go on for days about your friends, then you are a lucky man, indeed! But you already knew that...

I've been very lucky with friends, if not so lucky in love. At least my friends are there for me when I need them.

By the way, you three are so damn cute.

Churlita: From what I know that sure seems true.

Aw! Thanks :-)

I don't have a ton of friends, but the ones I do have I wouldn't trade for anything.

AlienCG: And it really is about quality, not quantity.
