'Cos Happy and Sad Come in Quick Succession

In the the legendary style of Churlita, I am using a song line for my headline. It came to me as I was driving to work today and suddenly got all lit up when a song I love came on the radio. Things aren't entirely fabulous for me right now, but there are always small moments that bring pleasure. I think I'm a pretty simple animal, really. It doesn't take a winning lottery ticket to make me feel genuine joy (although it certainly wouldn't hurt!)

Here is a small list of small things that can make me smile and feel gratitude for my life:
-Hearing a song I like, especially unexpectedly.
-A soft breeze on my skin.
-Seeing people behaving kindly to others in stressful situations.
-Walking, and suddenly becoming aware of how efficient and strong my body is.
-Falling into helpless laughter over some silly inside joke with my kids or friends.

What are some little things that make you happy?

Luckily for me, every little thing makes me happy. Watching my daughters when they're actually getting along will do it every time...Maybe that's not such a little thing after all.

What would we do without the small but mighty things that make us happy? I don't want to think about it.

On that note, here are just a few of my favorite things:

-Friday at 5pm without any errands to run so I can just go home and settle

-Being able to joke around with students and having them joke right back

-Laughing at a stupid movie

-My cat sitting down right next to me when I'm on the phone

-Checking on my blog and finding comments from my favorite bloggers!

Churlita: That is a very good thing!

Tara: Thats a great list :-)

I think reading the things that make other people happy makes me happy too!

Getting your car back and being able to shut off Cleveland's horrible radio selections and listen to MY music finally.

Having an uneventful day of work that leads ever so peacefully into a three day weekend.

Good food

A quality girl by my side (I will let you know when that happiness occurs)

A meeting of the sick minds when I find out that I was not the only person thinking the same weird thought.

reading peoples posts that make me go into these long comments (brown nose alert)

I love the one about finding out someone else is thinking the same twisted thought...that is a really good one!

Making up songs about poo with my husband.

Is it wrong that this makes me laugh so much?

Perhaps it's just an English thing...

Hmm...second thoughts...perhaps it's just a 'Soph and Bren' thing...

;-)

Soph: That interest may be less specialized than you think!
I bet there are lots of people who love a good poo song.
