What is More, Your Desire or the Facts

This Choose and Defend Wednesday is inspired by Churlita over at Churlish Figure, who leads a full and interesting life in a place that has actual seasons!  It is almost Autumn, so I thought I'd ask a seasonal question....

What is your favorite Autumn tradition?

Bonfires
OR

Tailgating

Of course, you may have a special Autumn tradition of your own.  I'd love to hear about it...but first, between these two traditions, which would you Choose?  And how will you Defend your choice?  Choose and Defend!

I've only tail gated once and it was fun. But I love a good roaring fire, the crispness of the air and the smell of fire. :-)

Bonfire, definitely! I'd rather have my party by a roaring fire than in a crowded parking lot.

Bon fire for sure. One of my favorite outdoor activities. Nothing better than kicking it by a fire with a beer or a glass of wine and bunch of fun friends.

Oh, and thanks for the mention.

Neither. Apple picking.
If not that, bonfires!!! I hate crowds, especially drinking crowds.

Bonfires, definitely. Nothing says autumn like sitting around a toasty fire with friends and having a good evening.

Ananda: I've never done either, so I have to ask the peoples :-) One for Bonfires.

Secret: I don't mind crowds, but I do like the mesmerized feeling I get watching a fire. Two for Bonfires.

Churlita: I does sound fun when you mention it...and you're welcome! Three for Bonfires.

NoRegrets: Oh, yeah! I have gone apple picking and that is a great autumn tradition! Four for Bonfires.

AlienCG: I think I'd have to agree...as does everyone so far! Five for Bonfires.

Everyone: Well, apparently it was no contest this week! So far, no one prefers Tailgating to a Bonfire. Anyone else want to have a say? Please do!

I'm gonna go with the bonfire too. Although, I've never been tailgating so it's a slightly skewed choice.

Where'd the name bonfire come from anyway?

And sorry it's been so long since I've visited. I'll do better!

3GK: The English term bonfire is attested from the 15th century, as banefire "bone-fire", originally of fires in which the bones of slaughtered animals were burned, allegedly a Gaelic tradition of the slaughter season in autumn. - Wikipedia Lovely, eh? :-) Anyway, glad to see you here...I know you've been busy! Six for Bonfires.

Oo jeez, I'm late, I'm late! For a very important date!

Okay, that said. Bonfires is my final answer. I admit, though, I've never tailgated. The last bonfire I was invited to was over at my brother's when another one of my brothers was visiting from Arizona. We roasted marshmallows and just laughed and talked. Lots o'fun!

Tara: Never too late to play Choose and Defend :-) The bonfire with your bros sounds fun! Seven
for Bonfires.

That is seven out of seven replies for Bonfires...who'da thunk it?
