Girlie Girl's Graduation

Here is Girlie Girl and her Middle School diploma. I think she looked really cute. Some of those little girls looked like tiny cocktail waitresses, to put it mildly. I mean, I don't think I am an old fogey or anything, but we are talking about 14 year old girls wearing TONS of makeup and this very hoochy looking hair...hard to explain I guess, but it was pretty funny. There were even some of the girls who were rocking a sort of modified Amy Winehouse look with that Cleopatra eye makeup and even very discreet versions of beehives. Ah, kids.
Anyway, the evening went really well. They managed to conduct the entire ceremony in about 50 minutes, which isn't bad for a class of around 300 students. We got really good seats and GG was really gracious through all of our yelling, waving, and picture taking.
Afterwards, we went back to the house for pizza and many, many dessert items.

Now we get to do it again tonight, on a larger scale, for Social Animal. After how well last night went I am feeling pretty strong :-)

Oh you totally have to frame that diploma! What a cute picture of her! I know what you mean about the makeup and hair being too grown up on some of them. When I go to my nephew's band concerts, I notice that the girls wear shorter skirts too. Not good. Way too early for that.

What a wonderful picture!

Haha, what you are saying about those young girls and how they dress up, I like to call that the Britney Spears effect... hopefully those girls will end up being a little more classy than Britney, it's not a hard thing to accomplish though...

Congrats to Girlie girl! ISn't it funny what some girls wear now?

Oh, and I promise I'll link you as soon as I get a chance. I love your blog.

Tara: I have a little diploma gallery going on at home! This makes the 4th Middle School one and tonight makes 3 High School diplomas.
It is a cute picture, but I just took it with my cell phone. I bet someone else in the family got much better pictures. I am NOT noted for my photography skills :-)

Sebastien: Yeah, not setting the bar too high there! Honey, all I ask is that you don't go out on the town without your underpants...and please baby, don't marry the backup dancer.

Churlita: It really is funny. Most of these girls are very sweet little things, but you wouldn't guess it from their get-ups.

And thanks!!!

That is cute...congrats to the graduate. I agree with Tara, include the photo in some sort of framed presentation with the diploma. It would make a nice piece later on down the line.

Evil-E: I have never been very good at creating those wonderful momentos as so many moms do. I always have the best intentions, but you know how that can go...

BabyBull: Thanks for the good wishes! For the most part, I don't have to worry to much, although with teenagers a bit of drama seems inevitable.

MrManuel: I let my daughter wear make-up, but so far she hasn't shown any desire to wear the very dramatic paint that some girls her age are sporting :-)

FW: Thanks very much! I did turn out to be a lovely night after all.
