Philosophizin' and Such

Happy birthday to my awesome middle child Cory Social Animal, who is turning 24 today! Social Animal is a man of such outstanding qualities. Intelligent. Handsome. Driven. Kind. Thoughtful. When he was growing up, I think the main characteristic associated with Social Animal was his great sense of humor. Of course, he is still a very funny guy. But as he has grown up, his major interest has become philosophy. He reads everything he can get his hands on. And more importantly, he talks to people. He listens to what they have to say and remains open. It seems like a fairly rare and wonderful quality.

Last Sunday's Musical Message was chosen in his honor. I looked for something that felt like a meditation on an unknown future and the idea of having to walk our own path. I have every confidence that Social Animal will continue to make good choices and keep his mind and heart open to all that lies ahead.

Happy Birthday, Social Animal!

Happy birthday Social Animal! Nice photo of you both. Funny, I was celebrating my daughter Boo Sparkles birthday today as well. She is now officially a teenager.

I like it when our offspring make us feel all gooey and sweet. My daughter is 13 and it seems to happening less and less. I'm told that she will return to me when she is 17. I am looking forward to that so much....

Talking to people and, more importantly, listening, is an all-too-rare trait in this day and age. You raised a good man, it seems. Be proud of that.

Listening is such a wonderful quality, and so is a great sense of humor! He's got it all!

FW: Belated happy birthday to your teenage daughter! What an exciting milestone :)

Maria: Those teen years are so loaded with the landmines of hormones, trying to become who they are, and testing authority. I read your post about your daughter and she seems like an amazing person :)

Jasen: Thank you Jasen. I wish I could take more credit, but he's been on this path since the day he was born.

Tara: A guy like him is someone I probably would have had a crush on back in high school. (Please dont't think that's creepy!)
