All That I Ever Was

This Choose and Defend Wednesday question came to me this morning as I stumbled out of bed and the guy next to me asked...why do you get up so early?  It's true, I could sleep longer, but I have my ways!  You probably have your ways too and I'd like to know what and why they are.

What is your preferred method for beginning your day when you definitely have to be somewhere?

Ease into the Day

OR

Sleep Until the Last Minute

Alright, then...tell me true. How do mornings work for you? (Poetic!)  Choose and Defend!

I am an Ease-into-it kind of guy. I wake up about an hour and a half before I have to leave for work, make a pot of coffee, surf the Internet and make my lunch. I like it that way, then I don't feel so hurried. EASE INTO MY DAY, final answer.

I get up and give myself half an hour to get ready, but leave an hour before I need to be at work. I have a 20 minute drive... that gives me time to enjoy music on the way and sip out of my travel cup. Then, when I get to work, I finish my coffee while eating my sack breakfast and working a Sudoku. I like to be relaxed when I begin my day, not hurried like I feel when I rush to work and hit the floor running.

I'm without question a "sleep until the last minute." I have no hair and no fashion sense, and I wear the same shoes everywhere. Wherever I'm going there's likely a beverage of some sort, and I can hold out 'til lunch for some grub.

No more yanky my wanky. The Donger need sleep.

Ease into it. I do set the alarm early enough that I can hit the snooze button once, but then I want time to sit around and drink coffee. And if I have my son, I also need time to pack his lunch and make us noth breakfast, and then we hang out for about 20 minutes before we have to leave.

Can I say inbetween? I kinda am. I sorta ease into the day but I'm rushing because I didn't leave enough time to ease...

Jasen: I actually have a similar routine. One for Ease into the Day.

Silly: That sounds like a very nice way to begin the day! Two for Ease into the Day.

James: Oh sexy girlfriend! I have similar sensibilities, except I do like breakfast :) One for Sleep Until the Last Minute.

Secret: I think I did get in the habit of giving myself plenty of time because of the kids also. Three for Ease into the Day.

NoRegrets: haha! I see your dilemma. Rushed easing is tough.

Everyone: So far it is 3-1 with Easing into the Day leading Sleeping Until the Last Minute...and one rushed easer. Anyone who hasn't yet had a chance to comment, please feel free to join in :)

I prefer to ease into the day, at least I like to have time to make a coffee and drink it but I'm usually up and moving and getting myself and the children ready. I'm usually up between 6-6.20am.

FW: You will fit right in here then! We are Easers :) Four for Ease into the Day.

Now at 4-1!

If I have to go to work, I try to sleep until the last minute. When I first started working the 7:30 to 4:30 shift, I was so worried that I'd sleep in and would get up extra early. Now....meh... I'm more relaxed about it and know how much time I need to get ready and get to work.

Tara: I used to be able to wake up with no alarm! It was amazing, but I lost that ability at some point. Two for Sleep Until the Last Minute.

A more interesting race at 4-2 :)
