All You Have to Do is Call

I guess I am sort of running with a Friendship theme this week.  I had lunch today with an old friend and it was just what the doctor ordered.  Just like you guys, he set my head on straight and made me feel understood, which always seems so essential to me!   Since it is Talk Talk Tuesday here is some talk talk for you...
"There is no hope of joy except in human relations."
~ Antoine de Sainte-Exupery

What say you?  Does that seem true to you?  What else brings you joy?   Talk Talk!

No, there is joy in being alone too. And with nature.

The joy of making someone else happy.

I'm a relationship girl. I put a lot of time and energy into my friendships/relationships and I am rewarded 1,000 fold. I always think about if I were to die today what would I think was important in my life and it always goes back to relationships, adventures and knowledge.

It sounds like we both met up with old friends last night. How lucky were we?

I think there is also joy in learning and gaining knowledge, laughter and play. There are a variety of situations these can arise - not always in the company of others.

Hanging out with great, goofy friends who make me laugh brings as much joy to me as spending time alone, watching movies and playing on the internet. Both ways help me recharge.

Also, spending time with family every once in awhile is healthy too.

I'm glad you had a chance to refuel and recharge with your friend!

NoRegrets: There certainly is. Still, I notice that you are a great one for reaching out and meeing new people. One of the things I really admire about you.

MrManuel: Oh, boy, that is one of the best feelings in the world. So true.

Churlita: From what I know of you from your blog and FB, you make a genuine effort to stay connected to friends. Long time people and new people, and certainly people are drawn to you.
We are lucky! Getting an old friend's imput it invaluable.

FW: I place such a high value on the joys of learning also. And often these are solitary pursuits...but sometimes it almost isn't real until I tell someone else about it!

Tara: You are such a well rounded person. I know that, like me, you sometimes struggle with being social, but I love how you make the effort. And how you seem to have a really great core group of friends...and how cool your family it :-)

I would agree with that. There are other transitory pleasures, but I think that outside of God and each other there are few true joys to be had, and many of them can only be fully appreciated when the need for companionship is already satisfied.

BrightenedBoy: That has certainly been my experience...there are lots of pleasures in life, but they mean so much more shared.
