A Night of Simplicity

So, how's your week going?  Hanging in there?  Yeah, me too.  How about a little Talk Talk for your Tuesday?  Into it?  If I keep it short?  And do all the work?  haha!

Okay, this Talk Talk is from Sunday's Musical Message.  These lyrics just slay me for some reason...

Drunk girls know love's like an astronaut.  It comes back, but it's never the same.
 LCD Soundsystem - Drunk Girls

What do you think?  Is love like an astronaut?  Or something else...what?  What is love like?   Get all simileval on our asses. Talk Talk.

Blogger is being awful to me today. I tried to comment on your yesterday post and laughing's and it refused.

However, since it is cooperating... great question!

Love is like a puppy...so happy at first that you could pee yourself, energetic, enthusiastic and eventually matures and mellows into a devoted companion. :-)

I don't know, I am trying and just don't get the similarity...

An astronaut? I don't know about that. But I don't have a better answer, since love varies from person to person.

Hmmm. I don't think I've ever known real romantic love...My love for my girls is like a current - constant and strong.

Ananda: Blogger can be pretty tempermental at times...glad to see you got through!
I love that description of love. Thanks :-)

MrManuel: Fair enough. But as a man with lots of love in his life, what does it seem like to you?

Secret: You mean it varies for you from one person to the next? There is no constant for you associated with love? Maybe love is like a shape shifter then!

Churlita: Love certainly does not have to be romantic...there are so many kinds of love after all.
Your description of your love for your daughters is beautiful :-) Thanks.

I have had different loves, without any one thing I could point to as an analogy. Love is just love, complicated and messy and wonderful.

"Love is a battlefield."

Actually, I think love is a frustrating mystery. It messes up our emotions and our thinking.

Just for kicks & giggles, I Googled "simileval". You're the one and only person in the world to have used that word in interwebs writing! (In English anyway...) Congrats! It feels great to be there at the inception of new web term. I feel privileged. So what does it mean? :)

As for what love is...what's it got to do with it?

Seriously, I don't think of love as an emotion. I believe it's a series of entirely selfless actions directed towards someone else. Can't think of a simile though.

Secret: Well it certainly is all of those things!

Tara: Oh, I like that one!
And I fully agree that love can really cloud your thoughts and emotions.

KenV: It is interesting to read that you see love not as an emotion, but as a purposeful act. There is something rather comforting in that.

I can't believe no one else ever saw the word simile and wanted to get cute with it! I just went...simil..eval (like Medieval, right?) How exciting to be one of the few, the proud, the weird. haha! Oh, lets just say it means...using a simile as a knight would use a sword! There.

Yes, nice new word.

Love is a half sour pickle. It can be bitter but still enjoyable. It's young, but not too young. It's crisp but soggy.

Hey, I kinda like that. Not sure where that came from, but it's there now!

I just noted the note to DR at the bottom of your description of you. How wonderful.

NoRegrets: That is a wonderful and really accurate description of love! Awesome.

Even though this situation with DR isn't ideal at the moment, yeah, I definitely feel loved. No substitute for that.
