My Diet is Now Lacking an Essential Nutrient

Yes, it's true. I seem to have stopped biting my fingernails. I am assuming that is because I am less tense since getting my own place. I didn't even realize I wasn't doing it (much like you don't realize you are doing it) until my left thumbnail started sort of hitting stuff. Understand that I have been a devoted nail biter my entire life (so I guess I can't really blame it on roommate / ex tension). Yes, it is a rather gross, germy habit...I can think of worse ones, but nonetheless I recognize its unattractiveness. But, maybe that is all behind me now! I can have actual fingernails!

I can pretty much guarantee that they will never look like this:However, I might be able to offer you a good back scratch one of these days. Wish me continued success please and tell me about a habit that you were able to overcome...or that you want to overcome! Thanks :-D

I am a devoted nail biter...I quit for about a year but started again.

Good to hear there is hope. Maybe one day.

I am an occasional nail-biter, but I did give up the minor habit of smoking more than 20 weeks ago.

You go ahead and bite your nails! Long nails gross me out!

LOL - very interesting picture ya found there but now I'm hungry when I saw the word OREOS ha ha! I wish you lots of luck & many years ahead of no nail biting :)! My bad habit that I quit for the most part was smoking. I smoked a lil in high school and then became a major stresser in college and got hooked for awhile. Now I only take a few hits off Evil-E's but they are so bad for ya I hope to one day stop. When I smell them, the craving kicks in :(!

I wouldn't want those as fingernails either.. I would end up chewing them off.. I use to bite my nails.. then I discovered Acrylic nails and got them for awhile.. now all I have are stubby nails that break and chip.. I don't bite them anymore though..

It took me a few seconds to realize that those were fingernails in the photo. Lol. My nails will never look like that either. I'm an intermittent nail biter, but I have let them grow longer.

I used to be a major hair-twirler. If I was deep in thought or worried about something, I would twist a strand of hair around my finger. It was a tell for my mom who would then say, "Okay, what's the matter?"

Evil-E: Given my history with nail biting it is entirely possible that something will stress me out again and I will fall right off the wagon.

AlienCG: You trump everyone with that! Hardest habit to break and you did it! I remain in awe.

MrManuel: Your words will make me feel better if I do start chewing again :-) Really long nails are kind of gross....

Renee: Isn't that a great picture? Cheese Nips, mmmm...haha!
Smoking is a hard habit to break and I imagine it would be extra hard if you are around another smoker. All the cues to want to smoke are right there. I have a feeling you can do it though :-)

Mrs: Yeah, I have heard that fake nails are really hard on your real nails. I've never wanted to go there. But I have heard of other people who have put on acrylics to successfully stop the nail nibbling.

Tara: Hair twirling doesn't seem like too bad of a habit, although it can definitely give your mood away.

I still play with my hair. I realize that it's annoying, but I don't know how to stop doing it.

Churlita: Anyone who is annoyed by that must just kill their own anxieties with something stronger than hair twirling :-)

I have relatively long nails and I thought they were great until I started getting the strangest of requests from my dad.
"Can you just get that hair out of my nostril please?" or
(as he throws the free plastic bags at me whilst at the check out) "Here! you open that!"
:o)
My daughter is having a new nail sensation too, just like you are. Eversince she was fitted with her brace she has found that she can't bite her nails! Double the benefit!
Anyway...more important things. How excited must you be to be able to watch the new Beverly Hills 90210? I'm so jealous. I'll probably have to wait until 2011 :o(
I loved the old series and I have the box set. Yes. Yes I do! I loved Jennie Garth but I always called her Jennie Girth which made me giggle.
(sorry if I lowered the tone)

Daffy: Sometimes it is nice to have an excuse not to do certain things...I can't! I have no nails! haha!

I am mostly curious to see the new 90210. I liked watching it when it was on, but then I kind of burned out on it, because my youngest son got into it and started tivoing the reruns EVERYDAY. I did like watching Jennie Gir..uh, Garth on Dancing with the Stars :-) And Daffy? The tone couldn't get much lower round here.
