Cute Term Alert : Staycation

Don't step on me. EXACTLY!!!

Aaahhhhh! This is my last day of work for about a week. This won't be one of those fancy-schmancy, traveling vactions. Instead it will be one of those staycations...you know, you are on vacation, but you stay at home...because you're superlame and cute little words are supposed to make you feel better about it. Um, yeah.

Really, though, this is just my chance to spend a little time with my kids before they go back to school next Tuesday. Tomorrow is they day they both need to turn in all their paperwork and get their schedules. Then I figure we'll have a few days to do a little shopping for supplies and an item of clothing or two. Handsome Lad is easy, but there is no way I am going to be able to make Girlie Girl happy as far as clothes go. It is like she wants this complete new wardrobe and it ain't happenin'. It's a money thing, of course, but it is also a reality check for her. The girl does not NEED a complete new wardrobe! She just WANTS a complete new wardrobe. So I won't feel too bad about just getting her what I can and then drawing the line.

I gave myself time to get them all situated...I'll be there to see how their first day of school went, on Tuesday. Then I gave myself Wednesday off as well, for good behavior. I figure I have it coming after the summer I've had! Which come to think of it hasn't been all that bad :-) In any event, it will be good to have some space between me and the library. A nice little breather. You might not see me around so much, although I will make every attempt to stop in and at least post a couple of things. It is marginally easier for me to use the internet at home nowadays, so I have that going for me. But if you don't see me commenting so much, don't hold it against me. And if you see me commenting as usual, you will know my vacation turned out to be even more relaxing than I thought!

As my manager says sometimes, "Go! Flee. Fly."

Have a wonderful vacation away from work, you so totally deserve it. Overdo, if you ask me. And don't let supply and clothes shopping stress you out too much. Like you said, she doesn't NEED a whole new wardrobe. Just a few items can feel like a new wardrobe. At least that's how I feel after I've bought stuff.

don't get me started on "Stay-Cation"...this is one of my latest peeve terms. I cannot stand cutesy junk like that.

Enjoy the TIME OFF with the kids. Even though you are not doing much by definition, you are doing a lot. I am sure it means a lot to the kids.

Hope you have a great time while away from the day job. Being at home while on holiday is just the best as far as I'm concerned!

I love staying home on vacation. So much more relaxing than actually going somewhere.

When my girls want more than I can give them, (which is most of the time)I tell them to get a job and then they can get whatever they want.

Staycation! I hate that word! I think Evil E does also. I forget who it was.

Enjoy your time off. We all need breaks. You deserve it.

Never heard of staycation before but that's what I was supposed to be doing this week until I felt sorry for a colleague coming back to a mountain of work after her awaycation so I cancelled the first three days of my leave to help her get through it. Never mind, still have five days at home before I go back to work, hopefully at least one of them will be relaxing!
