We Moonwalk the Foxtrot

In a last minute save of this week's Saturday Scavenger Shots game, Tara-Sweet-Tara of Eclectic Spaghetti gave us the word SPICE. What a great word, right? And it can be as easy or as complicated as you want it to be. Personally, I am going easy this week :)

First a little info on the SPICE in my life over the past few years. I admit, that there was a time after I first got my own place (for the second time in my life) that I only rocked the salt and the pepper. That was all I had. With the encouragement of fellow blogger Jasen over at Swamp Gas & Moonlit Reflections, I went out and got myself another couple of versatile SPICEs to add to my repetoire. Now I live with a man who loves to cook, and loves to experiment with different flavors. It is fun to watch...and to eat! I never know what sort of SPICE he will come home with next!

Here are most of the little darlings gathered on the cutting board for their big moment. We don't have a spice rack...they all just kind of hang out on the counter. It is SPICE world.

When left to my own devices I tend to rely heavily on Hot Shot, which is a black and red pepper mix. I also like onion and garlic powder. Kiss me, I'm Smelly SPICE!

Do you have a favorite SPICE? Tell me about it! Thanks for stopping by to take a look at this week's Saturday Scavenger Shots :)

Hmm, that Hot Shot sounds like my kinda thing! I guess my favorite spices would be pepper and garlic. I've been trying Mrs. Dash because it's a healthy alternative to salt, but frankly, Mrs. Dash can suck it. She should be called Mrs. Bland.

I asked for a spice rack for my wedding shower...the one I asked for has jars of loads of different spices. In the meantime I just have a few basic spices.

My brother is the kind who likes to experiment with spices. I don't use spices enough. We don't have a spice rack either. I tend to think they are more for show than actual use.

You have learned well, Padawan. I would tell you to not be tempted by the dark side, but hell, the dark side is where all the good flavors are. Keep up the good work and remember, variety is the SPICE of life (I already used that in my own post).

I like Trader Joe's South African Smoke spice grinder. It works well on so many things. Then I also like Sriracha, which is a sweet and spicy sauce.

PS: You've been tagged to choose the next word, Ms. Laura!

Tara: I don't think I've ever tried Mrs Dash. I guess she is what we deserve for wanthing to salt our food :( haha!

And thanks for the tag! The word is Shame.

Silver: What a perfect opportunity to get a great collection of spices and somewhere to organize them! Good thinking.

FW: I am the same...when I'm cooking I get quite basic. I let DR work the magic in the realm of new flavors :)

Jasen: Thanks for your mentorship :) I will have to try that South African Smoke...I'm intrigued. A couple of my kids use Sriracha on virtually everything!

Basil and garlic...Is butter a spice?

Churlita: Very nice choices. And I don't know about butter being a spice, but it sure adds something to a dish :-D
