Your Life is a Six-Lane Highway to Nowhere

Today's Saturday Scavenger Shots word is ZERO. I am the hero who chose it :) As usual, I clearly didn't have anything in mind when I came up with it. I just thought...well, it's a cool Z word...nothing is nothing...and yet nothing is somewhat mysterious too!  So here we are a week later, pondering ZERO.

Here is what I cobbled together.

I found this little book called "The History of ZERO".  Apparently, the Babylonians invented ZERO when they devised a symbol that was a placeholder. Their ZERO looks more like a pair of little flags standing side by side. But it was still ZERO. You go Babylonians!  ZERO had to be invented a second time around 500 A.D in the Hindu system of mathematics. The history of ZERO is actually pretty interesting. You know, if you're into that sort of thing. It is hard to imagine life without ZERO now. What would life be without nothing? Wait, what?

So, uh, as you can see, this Saturday Scavenger Shots turned out to be more of a little lesson in mathematics than a series of awesome photos (which I very seldom achieve, in any event!)  Just remember...nothing from nothing leaves nothing. You gotta have something, if you wanna be with me. So sayeth Billy Preston and so it shall be.

That's really cool that you found a book about the history of "zero"! I would've been excited to find it too!

Plus, it's always exciting to read "zero calories", "zero sodium", "zero carbs" on a meal or beverage. Zero can be healthy!

Next week's word will be "wolf".

Tara: I almost put up a photo of the nutritional info from my rice cakes. Lots of zeros. Not much bad...but not really much good either :)
Love the word, thanks!!!
