Party On, You City Nerds!

Tonight is our City Employees Holiday Party. The theme this year...I don't remember Gingerbread something or other. I have definitely written about the holiday party before. It isn't too exciting. We have it at the community center, which is rather pedestrian, but they do decorate beautifully. Also, there is a nice catered meal. This is my fifth year here, so I will get a little certificate and pen I believe. Another nice thing is that they give many nice raffle prizes. Last year I won a $25 gift card for Best Buy...which I then re-gifted to Secret Agent Man :-)

Do you guys have work parties? What are they like? Spill!

PS-I just found my "Longetivity Bonus check on my desk. Believe it or not (I can't) I forgot that was one of the perks of being here five years or more. Bonus!!! I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders in getting through the holidays this year. Yay!!!!!

My company does not have them anymore. They had one the first year I was there and it was in April.

The best company party I went to was back in about 98...me and a girl that worked there showed up together and we were decked out to the teeth. We did it for reaction and ended up dating a while. Pretty fun.

I used to be able to go home for the 2 hours of our Christmas party in the afternoon, but now they make us show-up and bring food.

I've worked here for 10 years and all I got was a certificate. Sometimes it sucks to work for the state.

Evil-E: That sounds like fun...it is always good to sort of surprise your co-workers and liven things up.

Churlita: ha! Party by force! So wrong...
I am lucky to work for a city with some financial stability and a desire to keep employees for the long term.

I'm supposed to go to an office party next Saturday, but I'm always undecided about those parties. It all depends on the weather. Plus, my choir rehearsal is that day, but that won't be a problem.

Tara: I am usually not enthused about going, but end up having a pretty good time...if that is any help :-)
