How Come You Never Card Me Anymore?

It is once again time for our Saturday Scavenger Shots. Our very own AlienCG chose this week's theme - CARD.
I don't think you'll be surprised by my choice...

This is an old skool CARD catalog. People used to use these cards in these little drawers to find the books that they needed in libraries.

Nowadays, you just press an icon on your computer and you can access the catalog (not CARD, although some people still call it that out of old timey habit).

Okay! Now, check with the very ecelectic Tara for what you will be working with this week! Ready, aim, shoot!

A library person referencing the ol' card catalog...scandalous, simply scandalous. Nice job, there were a lot of angles I completely missed for this word.

I love those old card catalogs. I guess I"m just a tactile person. Well, that's what Mr. Hockey says anyway ;-)

Nice shot.

Evil-E: I know, I know...it had to be done. Yes, card turned out pretty diverse!

NFH: They do have their charm. haha! Lucky Mr. Hockey!

I love how many interpretations there are for card. Occupational hazard for you!

Cricket: Thanks for stopping by! Card turned out to be a fun word to use. Most of the occupational hazards of librarianship are not too awful :-)

Those old cards take me back to when we'd go to the local public library to research reports and stuff at school. Great choice of photo!

Tara: When I came to work in libraries everything was already computerized. At my first job, though, my boss refused to get rid of her card catalog. It was fun to look through.

I worked in book stacks in the main library during college. It was in the eighties and we had card catalogs all over the place.

Churlita: I missed card catalogs as an employee, but sure remember them from school.

MrManuel: Now they teach the kids about online databases :-)

Stepping: You and Churlita! It seems easier the way it is now, but also people expect you to know EVERYTHING, because you are sitting in front of a computer.

MiniJonB: Some people just miss the idea of them or the asthetic of them. Not too many people miss the actual experience of trying to figure them out :-)

Viki: They were good for getting you into the right area, but thats about it.
