Soles Worn Thin

See this paprika? Even this 50 g. is more well traveled than I am. It doesn't blog though.

I know that inside me lurks the heart of a traveler. No, I won't give it back! It is mine now. However, I am the traveler who never travels. The armchair traveler, if you will. Well, even that isn't strictly accurate, because I don't read a lot of travel books. I am more of, say, a Flickr traveler! I look at traveling friends' vacation photos and put myself right there on location. That's some awesome mind power right there, um-hm. And I read your blogs. I know that some of you have these huge lists of places to which you have traveled. I can only read down your lists and sigh with envy. Still I remain confident that at some point in my life, I will have the time, opportunity, and resources for travel. Until then, I will spice up my life with my genuine Hungarian paprika and dream. 'Cause dreaming is free. And so is genuine Hungarian paprika if your BFF brings it back from genuine Hungary as a souvenir.

Don't envy my list when I finally get around to posting it. It's not as exciting as it looks with all the small, backwater towns.

Free spices are good, especially when they're from their country of origin.

I used to travel and might be on the move again, but for now I am firmly planted in the cultural void known as Cleveland OH. Where the winters are long, the springs don't exist, and the roads are next to impossible tonight.

I still say we should all eventually have a blogger meet-up somewhere vacationy. That would be so much fun!

I travelled like crazy for ages, but pretty much stopped by the end of last year. Now I can sort through all the pictures.

Laura - you are like me. I love to travel but lack the resources. Our one and only 'real' trip to Italy was the first and really killed us financially. All is well - I think it was worth it.
I dream about places too and one day I will get to those few places that actually interest me. Until then - hey dreaming is free.

I have also started googling random places and seeing photographs and imagining myself there. Oddly, its very refreshing.

AlienCG: Aw, I will envy you anyway. Even the small backwater towns are opportunities to see something different :-) And you're right, free spices are excellent!

Evil-E: Now you can couple travel! Something to look forward to. And I know that in spite of the winter, there is lots to love about Cleveland...right?

Tara: That would be sooo much fun!

Dmarks: I remember your list! You have gotten around :-) And looking back on it is pleasurable too, I'm sure.

Viki: Your trip to Italy did sound like it was more than worth the money. And I agree! Just seeing other places in the world in pictures and imagining being there is probably the next best thing :-)

My Grandmother on my Mom's side loved to cook with that stuff! She had all these crazy Hungarian recipes.

MiniJonB: I haven't cooked many Hungarian recipes, but I'm up for the challenge!

I would love to travel more. That whole being poor and having kids really puts a cramp in that dream for me. When I was younger, I didn't have a lot of money, but I moved around some in the US. Maybe one day, all your kids will be grown and they'll pay for you to go to all the fun places.

Churlita: At some point my kids will definitely be all grown and out of the five, at least one better be prepared to thank me generously for my sacrifices. hahaha!
