The peacock is sometimes thought of as a symbol of VANITY.
This is a photo from a long time ago, when I first started working at APL. It is funny that
peacocks roam the streets of the city where I live and the city where I work...and nowhere in
between, as far as I know. I guess I am somehow meant to be around all of that VANITY.
Sometimes a VANITY is simply a piece of furniture. More like a dressing table type of thing.
I don't have one of those. This is an approximation of a physical vanity, in the restroom at
work. Hey, this isn't the first photo I've snapped in the bathroom! Anyway...the bonus is you
get me, full of VANITY for no good reason. Actually, I am not full of VANITY as a rule.
work. Hey, this isn't the first photo I've snapped in the bathroom! Anyway...the bonus is you
get me, full of VANITY for no good reason. Actually, I am not full of VANITY as a rule.
But I did take a shot or two, to ensure I wouldn't look too gross here....oh, VANITY!
I hope those of you participating enjoyed exploring VANITY. If you aren't playing, consider it! It's fun :-) Now for the tag....Tara, mistress of Eclectic Spaghetti, you're it!!!

I love the expression "cobbled together." But that works - peacock and sink stand. I actually dreamed a couple of nights ago that there was a peacock walking around my yard.
I love that shot of the peacock. You almost never see them in profile, and wow - they're very striking from that angle as well, but in a whole different way.
Secret: There are peacocks walking around people's yards around here. They are cool to look at, but I understand they can become quite a nuisance.
TattyTiara: Isn't that cool? You can really appreciate the beauty of all their other feathers, apart from their well known tail feathers.
Oo, so much to do! I'm behind on posting a photo and now I must choose a word! Not much to do in so much time....er wait...Too much to do in so little time! There, that's it!
I love the photos, I'd like to see more peacocks in our area. I'll trade you a few Canadian geese for a few of your peacocks.
Thank you for the tag!
Tara: A local bird exchange! Sounds good. I'm sure the birds would get a kick out of going visiting :-)
Can't wait to see our new word! Thanks Tara.
UPDATE: I have chosen...and posted.
Sorry I'm not participating regularly, but I do like your photos!
Tara: Thank you very much! Great word and great post!
NoRegrets: I appreciate that. And when you do participate, I always love your take on things.
I love your vanity shots. You in the bathroom is pretty hot. Nice job.
Churlita: Aw, thanks. *blush* :-)
Cool restroom shot!
I'm actually horribly vain, though I try not to be obvious about it.
The way I look has a huge effect on my mood: if I'm looking good, I'm full of confidence; if I'm not looking good, my disposition turns sour.
It's one of my single worst personality traits.
FW: Could you ever have imagined saying that phrase? Thanks :-)
BB: If I had ever been a beauty, my own vanity would be much stronger. Your feelings about your own looks seem natural to me...people want to feel good about themselves, and looking good is a big part of that.
