Just to Prove That They Really Existed

I am almost literally crawling over the hump today.  I am shot.  But I shall perservere with the help of a little Choose and Defend Wednesday.   Today we shall focus our attention on the visual arts.  Who doesn't like art?  Especially given the very deep and wide definition of what constitutes art!  Part of what made me think of the visual arts is AlienCG's photo a day project over at Swamp Gas & Moonlit Reflections .  If you haven't been checking it out...well, check it out!  You may recall that MrManuel over at Manuel's View completed a similar project just this past May.   Some of you take photos, some of you paint or draw, some of you (me) don't seem to have any mad skillz in those areas, but still enjoy the visual arts.   This all brings us to today's choices for Choose and Defend.

Which of these two visual mediums do you prefer?

Painting / Drawing
OR

Photography

Feel free to discuss your feelings about creating vs. viewing these different art forms.  All comments are gratefully accepted.  But don't forget to do the essential...Choose your visual art and Defend your choice!  Thank you :-)

Both are stunning in their own way.
I suppose I lean toward the creation of art through paint more. Due to the fact, that I can create, but I'm crappy at photography. Any good shots I get are accidental.

Photography. I love looking through the lens and showing my view. I'm not so good at painting.

Photography for me too. While I enjoy a good painting or drawing, especially digital drawings, a good photograph transports me to another place. Like the photo you posted, it almost seems too surreal to be real. I love that.

Good post. Thanks!

Although I love certain pieces of artwork that involve drawing or painting, I like photography the best. It's very "in the moment". I love the photo you have posted for photography, too.

My dad was a professional photographer and my mom was a painter and illustrator. I don't know if I could make a choice here. I actually like to take photos and then make paintings from them. I'm going to call it a draw this week.

Photography is easier for me, but find painting/drawing to be more creative.

Ananda: You are so lucky that you are creative! I've seen some of your good shots and they're very good :-) One for Painting.

NoRegrets: There is something gratifying about sharing a moment in time, isn't there. One for Photography.

3GK: I think it is tremendous what can be rendered with cameras nowadays. It is a different medium than it was even 20 years ago. Two for Photography.

Tara: Isn't that photo beautiful? I see what you are saying about the immediacy of photography...good point. Three for Photography.

Churlita: No wonder you are so creative yourself, with such artistic parents! And your reason seems like a very good one for not being able to choose :-)

Dmarks: I know you've taken some great photos...I'd love to see your other art! Two for Painting.

Everyone: Hmmm...we have it at 3-2 (or 4-3 if we give Churlita one of each) with Photography leading slightly. It's not too late to weigh in if you haven't, in the great art debate!
