Give Me Me Vitamin C, Ya Scurvy Scum!

I hope you all remembered to celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day yesterday.  It is one of my favorite holdays, in part because there is no pressure to buy anyone the perfect gift...yet.  I'm sure with the right PR they could get it there :-)
This is the last pirate movie I saw.  It is one of DR's very favorite fil-ums.

At work here on Saturday, my co-worker Camper had a Pirate Party program.  The kids loved it and she had a huge turn out.   Working on Saturdays isn't my favorite thing, but I do like it when we have something fun going on.  In a couple of weeks I will be presenting a Fall Harvest Fun Day.  I mean, it isn't pirates or anything, but I'm hoping I can bring the good times.

Sunday was a relaxing day.  I got lots of laundry done in the morning and in the afternoon Handsome Lad and I went to see Easy A.  It was his idea and I was okay with going, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised.  Turns out it is kind of an homage to John Hughes films.  It had a lot more heart than I would have expected.

Now, here we are at Monday and I'm trying not to feel overwhelmed with the sheer endlessness of the week...heck, of the coming months.  There is nothing extraordinary going on, just the usual stuff again and again.  It wears on me.  What do you do when you feel like you are in a rut?  I am betting you guys have some GREAT ideas :-D

The last pirate movie I saw was part of POTC 3.

Yarrr, tis one of my favorite holidays too, lassie....Wait, some of that is Scottish. ;)

I remember seeing some of "Yellowbeard". It was pretty funny! My favorite pirate-themed movie....so far...has been the first "Pirates of the Caribbean".

That pirate party and your harvest celebration at the library both sound fun! I hope you have a great turnout for both!

Darn, I'm kinda feeling the same way. You let me know what you figure out... Even with stuff I have planned, it seems endless...

You have to make yourself do something you've never done before. I'm serious. A new adventure/experience always helps to take you out of your comfort zone or rut. Go on a day trip to the beach or to hike in the woods. Getting out of town - even for a few hours helps with perspective too.

Dmarks: I haven't seen any of the POTC movies. Am I missing out?

Tara: Oh, pirate, Scottish, what's the real difference? haha!
Yellowbeard was pretty funny. I think I'll need to see it again, maybe, to fully appreciate the great enjoyment DR gets from it :-)
And thanks for the good thoughts!

NoRegrets: I will definitely share any good info. In fact, if you come back here and read this, see Churlita's comment...

Churlita: I should have guessed that you would have some excellent advice. You're very good at shaking things up. I really do need to have some sort of getaway, even if it is very brief. Thank you.

How did I miss this?

One of the girls who works in the coffee shop where I buy lunch was mentioning it, but she called it "International Pirate Day," not "International Talk Like a Pirate Day."

If I had known the truth, I would have been all over it.

BrightenedBoy: Oh yes, those would be two totally different celebrations...next year, please don't hesitate to get out your English-Pirate dictionary and talk the talk :-)

Ha! There have been days where I am up making sandwiches for the kids' lunches and getting breakfast ready and also myself ready for work and the pure routineness of it stretches out endlessly before me. Sometimes I just let myself float in that feeling, other times I plan something fun to do to feel less in a rut.
