Another Wednesday rolls around, with the chance to redeem myself from last week's Choose and Defend Wednesday. Turns out people do not want to discuss their stand on marijuana legalization! Who knew? Well not me...but I do now! So, I am hoping you find this week's topic more appealing. As always I invite you to...Choose and Defend.
Which of these two scenarios would you most want to view, and why?
A long film with all the best moments of your life so far -
OR
A short clip with a pivotal moment in your future -
Thanks for playing...or at least considering playing :) Choose and Defend!

Beauty Can Be Terrifying
Saturday is here and you cannot imagine my relief. As much as I appreciate and even enjoy my job, I find myself looking forward to time off more and more lately. What else do I look forward to? Well, Saturday Scavenger Shots, of course! This week's word, chosen by me, is EXQUISITE. Why would I choose a word like EXQUISITE? That's an easy answer. When Jasen asked me to choose a word I was looking at this -
This is Encyclopedia of the EXQUISITE: an Anecdotal History of Elegant Delights by Jessica Kerwin Jenkins. It is a nifty little book I stumbled across in my shelf wanderings. It has short and sweet essays about things EXQUISITE, from Aerostations to Yes.
So, that was that! EXQUISITE. Here's what else I have -
I hate to be cliched, but some days there is nothing more EXQUISITE than some sweet, milky coffee.
Candlelight is always an EXQUISITE addition to any occasion. This is my sweet Miss Personality at her 8th birthday party on Thursday evening. She is turning into an exotic beauty, with an EXQUISITE style all her own.
Maybe there are not that many things that should truly be considered EXQUISITE. It has always seemed a rather lofty word to me. Also, people talk about EXQUISITE pain, as well as EXQUISITE pleasure...so that complicates things :) But I've done my best to show you my simple version of this EXQUISITE word.
Thanks for stopping in and getting all fancified up in here. Your humble servant @ WFHiT?

Friday 5 - Spinning
Aw, I haven't done a Friday 5 for awhile. When I have the chance, I enjoy them very much. Let me see what I can do with this week's questions.
1.What’s had you spinning ’round in circles lately? Work. My Robot Boss just keeps piling on the tasks. It is good to be busy and it is nice to feel that I am needed...but I am definitely on the run and it is often circular.
2.When were you last on a bicycle? Um...honestly not sure. Sadly, years. This makes me feel kind of bad!
3.Who’s the best storyteller you know? It is a three-way tie between DR, my son Social Animal, and my daughter Girlie Girl. They can all spin a yarn :)
4.How well do you handle carnival rides? Not that well. I don't even really like spinning in a chair until I'm dizzy. And if there are heights involved...yikes.
5.What do you think of TV game show Wheel of Fortune? Meh. It is one of the game shows DR kind of enjoys, so sometimes I watch it with him. But if I were channel surfing on my own, I wouldn't stop there.
There's a little something to make your head spin! Stop back in tomorrow for my take on the Saturday Scavenger Shots word -EXQUISITE. You know you want to! Or...you know I want you to! Now, spin on outta here! And put an exclamation point on the end of it!

And I Say Keep It Coming
Got through my birthday and a fun, relaxing long weekend with my sanity intact...you know, in a relative way. Work is stupid crazy right now. I keep telling myself that is a good thing, but some days that is hard to appreciate. But even with the stupid crazy I am down for some Choose and Defend Wednesday!
Today I thought I'd bring up a topic that seems to get some discussions going. I am going to be honest and say the subject has me conflicted and I am very interested in hearing what you have to say. So, I ask you - Should the personal use of marijuana be legalized?
No
OR
Yes
Not often that we do a yes or no question here! As I said, I'd love your opinion...so Choose and most importantly Defend. Not in the sense of you know...defend...but more like...expand on the reason for your choice. Thanks! And have a very winning Wednesday.

Will I Choose Water Over Wine
Oh, Saturday. Thank you for showing up. I needed you so, so much. Let me show my appreciation with some Saturday Scavenger Shots. This week's word is DRIVE. It was chosen by my dear friend Jasen over at Swamp Gas & Moonlit Reflections.
Sometimes I get clever with words. I mean, I'm capable of that. But this week, I went straight at it. DRIVE as in DRIVE my car...yes, I'm gonna be a star. And baby, I love you. See what I did there? Okay then. Here goes -
WTG likes to take Handsome Lad out to DRIVE. They only go in parking lots, but still. Well, at least he is old enough now that it finally makes some sense. I have many pictures of Handsome Lad in the DRIVEr's seat. This one is recent.
I stuck up my phone and took this through the windshield during my morning DRIVE to work. Is that entirely safe? Probably not entirely. But I was basically just throwing my hand in the air like I just don't care...and, um, yeah. Morning DRIVE.
When DR and I go out for a DRIVE together, I force him to sit in the back seat with random furniture that I place back there specifically to torture him. You'll have to trust me when I say he deserves it.
After this, I'm sure none of you will ever accept my invitation to go for a little DRIVE, even if I promise some exotic destination. That's okay. I'll give you a call when I get there. Have a nice long weekend, if you get one...a nice regular weekend if that is all you rate ;-)
Now...who will Jasen tag for next week? Who? Who? Who?

All For You
Finally! Here is our Choose and Defend Wednesday post. *whew* I'm bringing this to you in honor of tomorrow....no, not Valentine's Day...my birthday :) Actually, it could apply to any day, so answer away!
Which of these thoughtful gifts would you prefer?
Breakfast in Bed
OR
Picnic Lunch
Okay...it didn't escape my notice that these are both food based. But I just wanted it to be about thoughtful gestures, rather than costly gifts. And these things both seemed to fit the bill. So, which would you Choose and why? (Defend)
And I know there is a lot of hate for it, but still, I hope you have a Happy Valentine's Day. Be mine, be mine, sweet Valentine! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

I Can't Say, Baby, Where I'll Be In a Year
Here we are at our SWEET, SWEET Saturday Scavenger Shots spot. I choose the word SWEET, because I knew it would be easy! And although it has the simple ring of something we've surely used before, I'm sure it has probably been quite some time...so I figured no harm, no foul.
So what is looking SWEET today?
So what is looking SWEET today?
Here some of the SWEET kids who came to my Year of the Snake Celebration today. They got to enjoy some SWEET treats, in addition to some fun activities and crafts.
Aw...SWEET Miss Personality after a hard day of running the world. Is there anything more SWEET than a sleeping child? Especially one who is so worn out that a box seems like a SWEET sleep spot :)
There is your Saturday SWEET stuff. I hope the rest of your weekend is equally SWEET...and savory too!
Edit: Forgot to tag someone. Oy. Okay...you're up Jasen!

And Love Will Steer the Stars
I thought I'd do a bit of a silly Choose and Defend Wednesday. It is that kind of week. Okay...the Lunar or Chinese New Year is coming up this Sunday. It is going to be the Year of the Snake, FYI. I'm guessing not many of us take either Chinese or Western Astrology dead seriously...although forgive me if I'm stepping on toes here. But in any event, I always find it rather fun and interesting to learn about the different attributes assigned to us based solely on our birth date.
If you need a quick refresher on the zodiac signs for both schools check these links -

http://www.locketown.com/chinese_horoscope.htm
Anyway...this is just all for fun. The question is - Which kind of astrology is your favorite?
Eastern
OR
Western
Choose and Defend! I mean, don't ask why...ask why not?

Control the Heat in You
This week's Saturday Scavenger Shots word, MERCURIAL, was quite a challenge! Thank you for that dear Tara, chooser of the word :)
After giving it plenty of thought, I decided that the most MERCURIAL thing in my life right now is the weather.
One day it is warm and sunny.
The next, cold and grey.
I guess January and February cannot help it...they are just MERCURIAL by nature!
Just for fun, I've thrown in one more photo, which of course I did not take:
His name is MERCURIAL :) And he has one of the most amazing voices this world will ever see. Mad love to Freddie Mercury!!!
Thanks for stopping in to enjoy some Saturday Scavenger Shots. You are appreciated.
Oh, and if you come by tomorrow for my Musical Message, it is put up in honor of my mom's 74th birthday. It's one of her favorite songs :)

All That I Ever Was
This Choose and Defend Wednesday question came to me this morning as I stumbled out of bed and the guy next to me asked...why do you get up so early? It's true, I could sleep longer, but I have my ways! You probably have your ways too and I'd like to know what and why they are.
What is your preferred method for beginning your day when you definitely have to be somewhere?
Ease into the Day
OR
Sleep Until the Last Minute
Alright, then...tell me true. How do mornings work for you? (Poetic!) Choose and Defend!

Telephone Poles Keep the Time
Wait don't DASH off! You just got here! Whew...slow down...thank you. Now, where was I? Oh yes, I was going to show you my Saturday Scavenger Shots post. This week's word, chosen by my comrade Jasen over at Swamp Gas & Moonlit Reflections, is DASH.
I guess I will admit that my first thought was Mrs Dash. You know, she's that pretty famous seasoning blend. But I don't happen to have any on hand. So I had to keep thinking. Ow! I perservered and here is what I came up with -

I found, and badly photographed, this book about Samuel Morse. He's no Mrs Dash or anything, but he was one of the inventors of the telegraph, which led to the creation of a system of dots and DASHes known as Morse Code. ...---... Do you recognize my call for help?
Here is one of the little lizards that live in the ground cover near my building. You can be sure he is about to DASH back into the bushes, because that is what those guys do. Count on it. Or maybe don't. One time my youngest son was riding his bike on the sidewalk and accidentally ran over a lizard. He saw it, but was so sure it would DASH away that he kept on rolling. It didn't DASH. He felt truly awful. It was like that Seinfeld episode where we had to ask ourselves...don't we have an agreement with the lizards? Aren't they like the birds, commited to being the ones to DASH? *sigh*
Okay then. Guess that is all I have for today. DASH if you must, but do stop back by anytime. I wonder who Jasen will tag and what our next ever-interesting word will be? DASHed if I know...wait, what?

Wit' a Baseball Bat
Getting down to a basic question on this Choose and Defend Wednesday. I know I don't want to think too much...you shouldn't have to either. It is just that kind of a day.
The subject? Peanut butter. The texture? You Choose. Also, you Defend :)
Chunky

Creamy
I've done my part...the asking! Now, won't you please do yours? That would be the Choosing and Defending!
Thank you, my dear goobers.

Just a Good Drinker
Hi there. Finally getting back to the land of the living after a couple of sick days and a couple of busy days. It is Tuesday, but as we all know, it is never to late to participate in one of my beloved blogging traditions. Yes, it is the Tuesday edition of Saturday Scavenger Shots!
The word is SOCIAL. It was chosen by me last week, with something in mind. However, given the way my weekend went, I have needed to modify my thoughts on my SOCIAL life...at least for the purposes of this blog entry!
First, I can tell you that I am neither particularly SOCIAL, nor particularly anti-SOCIAL. But if I had to tip that scale, I'd say maybe a little more anti-SOCIAL in some ways. Mainly because I am shy and often feel slightly SOCIALly inept.
Among my favorite SOCIAL events are ones like this -
Thanks for finding me here on a Tuesday evening, doing a Saturday morning post. I am just a SOCIAL rebel like that...and I know that you are too. I will tag Jasen for this week...sorry it is so late!!!
Stop in tomorrow for some Choose and Defend Wednesday too! Thanks :)

Among my favorite SOCIAL events are ones like this -
A concert, where I can be in a large crowd of people, feeling a part of something big and outside of myself. And yet, there are no expecations from anyone about how I should behave. I sort of enjoy the mix of intimacy and impersonality that a big crowd enjoying something together creates. That is how creatures like me can feel SOCIAL in comfort.
Also, I do think I had SOCIAL networking at the back of my mind as I thought about this word. It is a big pushy item at work....keep up with the SOCIAL networking for the library. We need to get out there and promote ourselves. Blah blah blah. Hopefully it helps and I certainly don't mind doing it.
https://www.facebook.com/ArcadiaPublicLibrarySo, if you ever get the urge to watch me pimp the my workspace, don't be shy. I put up the Children's Room posts in an attempt to connect to the community through SOCIAL networking. And of course I do a bit of SOCIAL networking on my own behalf as well, as you may have gleaned from my blog, tumblr, twitter, personal facebook, and...that's it!
Thanks for finding me here on a Tuesday evening, doing a Saturday morning post. I am just a SOCIAL rebel like that...and I know that you are too. I will tag Jasen for this week...sorry it is so late!!!
