I think I've posted this photo before, but SUMMER is definitely for bare feet. At least it was for me when I was a kid. And it seems to be for these here kids too!
The first hot days bring the beginning of wild fire season here in Southern California. Can you see the smoke back in the foothills? SUMMER burn.
I love SUMMER evenings with the front door open to let in some air. Have to put up the screen though, or the june bugs and moths and what have you invite themselves in. They are not welcome at my SUMMER party.
Fabulous 80s fashion aside, I'd say this picture was probably taken in the fall. However, SUMMER always, always makes me think of the first boy I ever really loved. It was definitely a SUMMER romance that lingered some months after. I've mentioned before that we're still in touch, still great friends. And SUMMER brings me a lot of very sweet memories of young lurve. It seemed so simple :)
Weather-wise SUMMER certainly seems to have arrived. The first official day of SUMMER is June 21, so another 3 weeks or so. I am ready though! I am ready for SUMMER and all that it brings.
Have a great weekend, you hotties. Can I see your SUMMER too? I showed you mine! Dangit....

Yes, summer! Woo hoo!!! Far and away my favorite season, too.
Gotta love summer. Your summer looks hot!
I like the summer too, the light evenings and not having to wear lots of heavy clothes. I think I also probably fell in love during the summers of my youth a few times. You first love reminds me of someone famous but I can't think who, probably a pop star.
Summer is a wonderful time of the year. I'm not the type to go barefoot at any time of year. I prefer to be shod when I stroll outdoors.
One of the good things about living in the midwest is that we don't have "wildfire season", but we have had wildfires around here. It's rare though.
I agree, no bugs are welcome in my home either. If they do get in, they will get taken out.
It's good that you're still good friends with your first love. I like to hear about that kind of thing. You have represented the word well.
I love walking around barefoot, even though I have had a few painful toe-stubbing issues. It just makes such a difference in the summer when I can go home and take off my shoes and socks. I start to cool off immediately.
Secret: I know you and I have that love of the heat in common. We picked good places to live.
3GK: Good to see you! I bet you are ready to be done with snow and such for awhile.
FW: I do love the longer daylight hours too.
He's always reminded me of a bit of Kevin Kline for some reason.
Jasen: Wildfire season is pretty predictable...and they clear hillsides, which later leads to the least bit of rain causing landslide / flood season. Good times!
Thank you! Representin'!
Tara: Sometimes I feel like months go by where my feet are always shod or at least covered by socks for warmth...being barefoot is soooo comfy!
