As I write this, DR is on his way back! It is a long day of flying those 3,000-ish miles, with two layovers. Still, he will get in just in time for me to make him wait while I go pick him up after work :)
So...I have traveling on my mind. Among other things. And that, friends, brings us to Choose and Defend Wednesday!
If you were going to take a lengthy, vehicle-based vacation which of these would you prefer?
Cruise
OR
RV
Hit the open road or the open sea! Which will it be? Make a choice. A choice that includes a nice strong reason gets bonus points! Okay...there are no points, but still! Choose and Defend because it is a beautiful day. Thanks :-D

I would take a cruise, BUT a small ship, not one of the mega ones. I did one of those barefoot cruises once in the West Indies. 100 passengers on a ship that had both an engine and sails. We stopped at different islands each day. Very informal and lots of fun.
Def the RV.. You can take your time (if allowed) and vist all the places you'd like to see and it's almost like camping.. just without the tent..lol
That's my final answer!
I'd have to say RV! I don't like being on water where I can't see the shore.
Kinda bad timing with the cruise thing, huh? ;) I could RV, but I'm going to vote on cruise, simply because of SAW's description. I'd love to do that.
I used to love it when our family would go on road trips. I could just sit in the back seat, look out the window and let my thoughts take off.
But now, a cruise sounds pretty darned good right now. I want to go on one to the tropics or to Europe.
Oh gosh, I'm not sure I can decide. A cruise is definitely nice for when you want to be pampered...but not as great to explore and make side trips. RV can be a bit rough...but I think RV will have to win out.
I am really torn here. I'm too much of a misanthrope for dances, shuffleboard, and crowded dining rooms. On the other hand, I'm too damned lazy to drive ten hours per day and then cook beanie weenies on a propane stove.
I'm going to have to go RV because I could stick a bicycle and a notebook in the beast, then I could park in the boonies and write and pedal to my misanthropic heart's content.
Full disclosure: At the end of each day I'd likely drive the RV to a hotel with a nice restaurant. Told you I'm lazy.
Secret: Wow, that does sound like a lot of fun! Informal is nice. One for Cruise.
Mrs: I think we should all take as much time as we want on these mental vacations! One for RV.
Silly: I think I get that. Umm hmm. Two for RV.
3GK: I'm sure I could find an awful traffic accident to level the playing field :) I like that...you've been influenced! Two for Cruise.
Tara: Weren't car rides soothing back then? Some place warm sounds good :) Three for Cruise.
Silver: I like it...a girl who wants to explore the side roads! Three for RV.
James: haha! Great answer. And I have to say, I am fully on board with your version of RV-ing. We don't call that lazy, we call that smart! Four for RV.
Everyone: Ooh! At the moment this is a squeaker! RV is just ahead of Cruise with a score of 4-3. Anyone else? Don't leave us hangin'!
I've never taken a cruise, so I'mnot sure what they're like, but i assume I'd be happier in an RV, without a bunch of people I don't know, in my face.
Churlita: haha! I like that answer. No strange people in your face :) Five for RV
Now at 5-3!
