The vote is the most powerful instrument ever devised by man for breaking down injustice and destroying the terrible walls wich imprison men because they are different from other men.
- Lyndon B. Johnson
It makes no difference who you vote for - the two parties are really one party
representing four percet of the people.
- Gore Vidal
What do you think of the process, generally? Does it work or do we need to do some serious revamping? Talk Talk!

When I remember to vote, and I will tonight, I usually choose whatever name sounds the best since I don't really know any of the people (at least judges and such).
I just visited a site that gives me an idea of how I can vote more effectively. Aside from that, I don't know how they decide in the end.
If Pedro was running against Summer in this election, I would most certainly vote for Pedro. He'll make all of our wildest dreams come true.
If people actually voted, I think it would be a great process. As it is, it's the loud minority that has the most impact.
For the most part, I vote along party lines. I know that's not how it's really supposed to happen, but way back when I put in more effort and research, I never crossed the party line anyway.
There are some fundamental problems with the two-arty system and the electoral college is insane. And I don't trust that there isn't vote-tampering. BUT. It's what we have and we all have a civic duty to vote. It drives me out of my mind to hear people bitching about the government and then find out they didn't vote.
I don't understand American politics at all, it just seems so complicated.
Tara: haha! Well, your method may be as good as any other. I try to be as informed as I can, but it can get very complicated.
And yeah! I would so vote for Pedro!
3GK: I think we had a relatively good turn out for this election, but not nearly what it would be ideally. I'm amazed that people don't take advantage of the process. And I do tend to vote along party lines as well. Makes sense, really.
Secret: I tend to agree. It is an imperfect system, but it is what we have and it isn't all bad. I know I feel obligated to have a say in who is going to be making big decisions on my behalf.
FW: It is complicated, you aren't wrong there. Maybe part of it is the size of the country. More people leads to more issues and more elected officials. Glad this mid-term is over...Now on to 2012.
I always vote. My mom would probably rise from her ashes and slap me if I didn't. It's just how I was raised.
Churlita: I am trying to do that with my kids as well. I want them to know how important it is to take advantage of our system, flawed as it may be.
