My motivational, inspirational beverage containers. |
I know it seems silly, but I like being reminded to be grateful, peaceful and happy! I am also pretty certain I have mentioned one of my favorite quotes that I have had hanging up at my desk since I came to work here over 8 years ago. Here it is again, as too much good stuff is never enough :-)
Best not to concentrate altogether on the sycophany, cowardice, and fraudulence of a society
that feels as if it's in decompostion. Better to think instead of beautiful children in concentrated
play, of Mozart's music for oboe and harp and flute, of Winesap apples and cold green grapes,
of large hearted men and women who refused to be daunted in much darker times than ours.
-Joseph Epstein "Decline & Blumenthal" With My Trousers Rolled
So tell me, what do you like to have around you for inspiration during the course of your day? If not things, what thoughts do you keep around? I love hearing the things that matter to people. Talk Talk!

I have that picture of my girlies in their dresses and doing a curtsy as my computer wallpaper. It certainly lightens my day.
Your pic has me jonesin' for some Grateful Dead.
Peace out!
I love that quote!
When I had my own office, I liked to have photos of my family and funny pins (aka "pieces of flare") up on my bulletin board.
Now that I have a desk that I share with a few others, I like to put stuff up that's funny. I love to laugh, so I have "Lol Cats" photos up and I also have a "Bad Cats" calendar on my desk. Those things don't inspire me to talk much, but they do cheer me up and some of my coworkers too! They need it the most lately.
I have pics of my girls at my desk. Of course, they're old pics of my girls. I should probably update them.
3GK: That is a great picture :-)
What a long, strange trip it's been...
Tara: It is different having a shared space, but sharing funny pictures and things is awesome! I think anything that lifts spirits is needed in most workplaces.
Churlita: A lot of my pictures are old as well. I try to update them. Still some days it is useful for me to be able to remember them when they were small and helpless :-)
